  • the ice looks so good, i could eat it.

  • HAIKU

    I hatch! Crawl! And swim!

Oh how I love my sweet life,

    But—why's the sea so WARM?

  • Its been melting and freezing for millions of years, again and again. The day the Earth shakes us off, it'll just repeat on getting hot and cold. Its a planet people, thats just what planets do.

  • I don't see no thread!

  • we need to get out there and put foil across that sheet of ice..

  • ice is cool.

  • global warming will be the excuse to further enslave humanity, then it will be another thing and another.

stop the vid at 15 seconds.. looks like someone or something is shearing the ice off itself in perfect lines?! sattelite lasers

  • @MockEmpire Yeah sure. That's it. Satellite lasers. World enslavement.

We've been enslaved by a bunch of anti-science, conspiracy freaks. They go by the name of free enterprise think tanks like the Heartland or CATO and their army seems to be posting all over this page.

AGW is real and it is a threat.

  • @rugbyguy59

satellite lasers was sort of a joke man..

world governance isn't, you're absolutely right though about think tanks,

we are programmed to think thoughts that aren't our own, this world is a laboratory and man is just a chemical, war is alchemy, global government is the next step in the evolution of the macro human, that is humanity as a whole, as one organism,

you're led along by a carrot, a green carrot

  • @MockEmpire We should be skeptical of government but also realize we need community to function and requires organization. There are certain issues that need world standards and thus we need a form of world government.

I am an environmentalist, but I am also a devotee of science. Science clearly tells us AGW is real. We need to live in balance. I like my car though. But I would like it powered by renewable sustainable energy. Science says this is doable.

Science is not making the bankers happy

  • @rugbyguy59 I agree that correct application of the sciences can solve many, many things, even unify us with our environment to such a degree that what we build is alive, not needing maintenance etc. but big business hitmen buy up projects and sit on them for decades so they can continue to stagnate humanity in this current dirty industry age, reaping mass profit all the while.

Science is definitely kept on a short leash, there are probably things going on that would stupefy the mind, tech wise

  • @MockEmpire I agree with you on much of what you say but that leaves me baffled. Why are you skeptical of a massive amount of science that goes against the interests of these people who we agree are causing so many problems? You have an issue here that is a problem for big oil and coal and presents the "danger" of united world action. This has the free enterprise and fossil fuel companies doing what the tobacco industry did years ago.

AGW requires change which is always dangerous to elites.

  • @rugbyguy59

"We've been enslaved by a bunch of anti-science, conspiracy freaks."

look again my friend, we've been enslaved by international private banks..

1% of the pop. makes 96% of the money on earth - you, me, just drones, moving stones (working, buying, reproducing, dying)

  • @MockEmpire I don't disagree about the bankers but I'll add in some of the rich cats like the Koch brothers who are funding and guiding the tea party not to mention many of the libertarian right wing think tanks. But these are the guys deploying the pseudo-anti-AGW skeptics/denialists.

The denial of global warming is to have fallen for the message of the very people you are rightly concerned about.

The real scientists and the actual science powerfully supports AGW.

  • OMFG THIS ISNT THE NEW SCIENTIST ANYMORE!!

its more like the new brainwashing BULLSHIYT!

  • CLIMATE GATE

  • first off who is to say the earth is not suposed to be 10 degrees warmer than it is now, just because it is not the ideal temp for us does not mean its not right for the earth, and like the dinosaur's will tell you, adapt or die off. the earth is doing its thing and we are only along for the ride. so enjoy the ride its going to get worse before it gets better.and trading in your suv for a eleictric car only makes it worse.

  • Maybe it's just me, but I'm not worried that the whole world is going to turn over and burn down because of global warming. If people like Al Gore want to make nature their God, then I suppose that's their business, but I think he and others use exaggeration and lies to try to rope other people in by inciting paranoia.

  • @AstralDragoon, First of all, Gloabl warming does not ultimately cause a "burn", its the opposite, global warming causes an eventual ice age. Al Gore does not make nature his God, ridiculous comment, Al Gore makes humanity aware of the imminent dangers associated with green house gases. Global Warming from humans is accelerating a natural process far, far sooner than nature intended. G5 nations all agree on global warming, I guess you know something they don't...your such an idiot.

  • "Burn down" was figuratively speaking; I've heard that global warming is supposed to produce an ice age. Honestly, I don't know for certain if I'm right, because I haven't researched enough, but I'm not willing to say that the supposed climate crisis is real just because a bunch of governments agreed on it. How do I know they didn't do it for economical or political reasons as opposed to actual concern that there is a problem? (Keep in mind, I'm cynical about this sort of thing.)

  • @AstralDragoon, The solutions to Global Warming are detrimental to individual countries and the World economy, there is no financial incentive for the G8 to move ahead on significant reductions of greenhouse gases. There is no political incentive because of the financial impact that will result......voters will not like the end result. Cynic is the word chosen by those who are to cowardly to admit they are nothing more than ignorant fools who dwell in their own fantasies.

  • Actually, cynic means that if I consider someone's motive, I'm more likely than not to assume that it will be more selfish/deceptive/etc. Basically, I don't trust people's integrity. I think people like Al Gore either want money or, as I said before, have decided that nature takes an overriding precedence over human concerns. I'm not saying that nature isn't important (I have a background in science), but I'm not willing to believe what I consider to be alarmist propaganda.

  • why are they calling it climate change now rather than global warming ? because the climate is changing and has been for millions of years. you say global warming causes an eventual ice age. an ice age has happened before so what was responsible for global warming back then ?

  • @DJKloop Well now they're claiming that it's perhaps a natural occurrence, but that the rate is too fast. Wow, always adapting the story to fit the situation. But wait, doesn't the weather change? Haha.

  • WOW.

To listen to the news, I would have thought were would be alot less ice.

Its great to see so much ice still up there!!

    Thanks for the vid!!!

  • With all of this global warming, I wonder where all of the sunbathers and beach goers are at in this video. Hmmmmmmm, must be to hot down there for them. sarcasm

  • New Scientis... sorry, Nude Insanity writes "I would be very surprised if it survives more than a couple more melt seasons," says Ted Scambos of the University of Colorado".

Scam-bos, a good name on the scientist, and it will take West Antarctic ice as much as several thousands of years to collapse, due to a Nature study reported in NY Times:

    tinyurl (DOT) com/cc7gfs

Also it wont start to collapse before the ocean gets several degrees C warmer.

  • Btw, I think there should be a Haag court on fraud and "Crime against science" because of the deceit which takes place right now!

  • Comment removed

  • at 0:14 it looks like the ice is pefectly sqaure

  • As if someone had carved it- like- that.

Now don't panic anyone, but I think it because of...

    ALIENS!!!

  • Look at the PHOTOs of the Skate on 17 March 1959.

    NO ICE !!!

Are you blind or can't you read dates ?

  • MediaTrash,

    You are obviously confused, fella.

Skate surfaced at N Pole, 17 March 1959 (not 1956 as per my last post). There was NO ICE !!!

Skate also surfaced in Aug 1962 with Seadragon, and at other times.

  • Google "USS SKate NBC Newsreel" - surfaced through 25ft of ice.

    Stop kidding yourself

  • The Arctic ice used to be 50+ metres thick, in 2007 the Russians ice broke there way to the absolute north pole and were able to plant a flag on bottom. That ice does not add significantly to sea level but the land based ice shelves represent up to 240 feet sea level rise. Happy happy thoughts don't change reality so we all must work towards moving or slowing the sun's impact until spot cycle 24 starts to get going.

  • Have a look at the 1956 photo of the US sub surfacing at the N pole mid winter ... NO ICE at all !!!! There is much more now.

  • since when was August 11th mid winter? USS Skate, look it up fella

  • Antarctic sea ice has been GROWING at 4.7% per decade for the past 30 years.

Arctic sea ice is now at an 8 year HIGH !!!

  • but permafrost in some areas is still mud? guess you have not been there this year eh? Solar cycle 23 continues and sun shielding options now on the go like painting roofs white to reflect solar radiation -Obama's science advisor suggestion. Keep imagining growing ice it may help. LOL!

  • Ozone Hole Causes Antarctic Sea Ice to EXPAND, Slows Warming

    By Alex Morales

April 23 (Bloomberg) -- The ozone hole over the South Pole is canceling out the effects of global warming and causing sea ice production TO BUILD UP around Antarctica, researchers said. (google it)

    -----

That was the news two days ago.

    Now....let's get hysterical!

  • read the whole story:

"British Antarctic Survey (BAS) and Nasa warned the ozone hole was only delaying the impact of greenhouse gases on the climate of the White Continent."

Although the ozone hole is in many ways holding back the effects of greenhouse gas increases on the Antarctic, this will not last, as we expect ozone levels to recover by the end of the 21st Century.

"By then there is likely to be around one third less Antarctic sea ice."

  • I read the whole story.

It referenced an extra 100,000 square kilometres of ice added to Antarctica for each of the past 3 decades, and it presented a faith-based ozone hole hypothesis to account for that fact.

  • so what do we see here?

  • So??? It's not like it hasn't happened before.

  • The world average temp in 2008 was the coolest since 1977. Global warming is a SCAM!

  • i agree global warming is rubbish the earth has natural cycles and we are still at the end of the ice age. warmer climates are inevitable but it will all balance out naturally just like it has over millions of years

  • i agree the same way that they lied about gas running out a few years back

  • deeedwards thank you, i think that needed to be said haha

  • Glaciers in western Himalayas thickening and expanding

Arctic ice cover above its 30-year average

23 Nov 08 - A study published by the American Meteorological Society

found that glaciers are only shrinking in the eastern Himalayas. Further

west, in the Hindu Kush and the Karakoram, glaciers are "thickening

    and expanding".

See Glaciers in western Himalayas thickening and expanding

  • This video was about science not why your country is bad. I bet you guys are the same fuckers that answers your professors question in an off topic opinionated manner. China is the hottest country right now, go research why it's a good and bad thing.

  • I agree with you LA city

these guys are arrogant as fuck

people america was basically derived from all countries after the europeans killed off the native americans. Instead of blaming us we should be blaming ourselves because we came from our ancestors and they did stupid mistakes like we did so everyone stop talking hypocrite bull shit and get your fucking answers straight although i am mad for us being ignorant on the damn world

  • See what americans Have done to our planet? Im (not) so proud to be an american

  • studmuffins, why does everyone think america is full of idiots?because, lets face it,the world is full of idiots(like you).

now,im not saying china is bad or anything but its mainly thier fault.lets see you go to beijing without an olympics going on(factories shut down).you would have to wear a facemask to keep you from chokeing.

  • dude, i know. im just sooo fuckin sick of all these people in america driving Fukin hummers and escalades. i no that china is horrible about pollution

  • not many people drive those. take a walk outside idiot.

  • ok, but i live in a place where many people do, which is why i have such strong feeling about this. I didnt mean to offend u

  • Its cool if you don't like hummers and escalades. But having the government pass regulatory TAXES and enforcing bans on things like "hummers and escalades" because of psuedo scientific research of "global warming" based on inaccurate understanding of just how the world works and further sold to the masses by media isn't the answer.

Just becaues YOU don't like something someone else has, doesn't mean there needs to be a law to ban it. One day you'll find yourself on the other side of that law

  • current CO2 levels are at 388 ppm and rising. it wont be long before antarctica begins to thaw as fast as greenland currently is, which btw is rising out of the sea at a rate of 1 inch per year. when antarctica thaws enough it too will rise out of the sea. it is connected to every tectonic plate around the world and will crack the earths crust. this isnt doomsday bull, this is science, and quite likely the worse threat facing mankind.

  • Americans are ignorant and dumb. They still don't get that capitalism failed miserably. France is a much bertter place to live. But the stupid Americans have an opinion without ever even seen France. Dumb is one thing, but combine it with ignorance, well - they have another thing coming. US bridges collapse, power grids fail, levies break, auto indusry fails. America is the best, ha! They still put power lines on wooden tooth picks and then wonder if the storm blows them to pieces etc. Retards.

  • If it weren't for those "dumb" Americans, you would be speaking German today. So do everybody a favor and shut the fu*k up!

  • deedwards has a point, france was gettin its ass kicked in both the world wars. and if the world ends right now at this very seconds becuz of the americans, then no one will be around to complain

  • 1 more thing, I have been to Europe, the Middle East, India, and Japan.Never had any problems and Joe average who has no agenda have almost to a person been grateful, and friendly. This ties into propaganda machine used to perpetuate the fraud that your buying into.Use your own eyes, walk outside take a look for yourself and rely a little less on other people to spoon feed you an opinion.Ignorance is not an excuse for trashing 5000 years of documented history.

  • ah shit you guys, we could even see the blue iceburg stuff. thats bad man :(

  • Look how staight the edges are! Looks like manmade cannals! Amazing.

  • I think I would perfer to sit in the dark for alot more then an hour if I had to watch more of this shit

  • Ain't global warming a bitch?

  • now if we can just keep it from exploding

  • just turn off your lights for 1 hour each year and the problem will be fixed.

  • It really wont.

  • nope

  • Change the entire way you live your daily life!

  • Hello, no proper grammar, pronunciation, spelling, and the presence of stupid abbreviations make your message hard to read and make you look stupid. If you really care, you'd take oh, I don't know...20 seconds out of your life to type that correctly.

  • Go with that if it works for you.

Here in the real world, nuclear power is a solution available now. Even at best, solar/natural power can provide only 15% of what we need, and thats a projection for 2012 with optimum growth in the industry. Stuff that fact down your gullet since you obviously have trouble chewing.

Just letting you know, I've covered this topic well enough, so I won't be back to check on your comments.

    Cheers, loser!

    ~DC

  • Let me just say you're both incredibly retarded. You're arguing on the internet, and failing to see the parts that are right in each other's arguments. Wind/solar is wonderful. But it requires fossil fuels to create the means of capturing them. And nuclear power is relatively clean, but it ain't all that. Think Chernobyl, 3 mile island. In theory it is wonderful. But there's that little thing called human error. The problem with anything we do is that a human will think it up, and implement it.

  • Think Chernobyl, 3 mile island. OK, thinking. Chernobyl -- US and French reactors are made differently. They are engineered to be self-limiting. Chernobyl accident no longer possible. 3 mile Island -- that was a worst-case scenario. How many people were injured? Oh yeah, zero.

  • Just a little reminder, there were exactly ZERO injuries reported from 3-mile island. The workers in the plant got the equivilant of a single chest X-ray, and only after a ridiculous number of oversights happened. Afterwards, new protocols were established to end the threat of those occurances happening again.

Containable waste is MUCH preferable to hazardous, uncontainable waste. Do we continue to pump chemicals into the atmosphere, or contain it in barrels underground.

  • With new technology, such as the bacteria I mentioned before, the toxic byproduct becomes less of a threat/problem.

The ignorant route would be to ignore the benifits of nuclear power because of rampant, emotional stereotyping and visions of mushroom clouds. You would remain with the status quo, or rather, "stay the course," with fossil fuels, when we have an available alternative now?

It is cleaner, cheaper, its waste is manageable. The same can't be said for current common fuels.

  • ... what the heck is with the caps?

I said nothing of "staying the course."

Nuclear power, in direct input/output, is highly efficient, much more so than burning fossil fuels. Its smart because its extremely clean (and much cheaper in the long run), without pumping toxins into the atmosphere. Its byproduct is solid and easily handled/transported, and Yucca Mt. will be a fortress.

We need energy. There is nothing ignorant in accepting that fundamental truth of human society.

  • there is so much misinformation about the subject, it makes you want to cry. Ask anyone where nuclear waste is now stored -- they don't know. It is stored in a sealed metal containers sitting on an asphalt tarmac surrounded by a chain-link fence with razor wire -- and a 24-hour military response team. It is all psychological. People are afraid of storing it or they can't see it. So they put in cameras in Yucca Mountain for people to watch. LOL in France, provinces lobby to get plants.

  • Teams conducted tests with the waste, to see how dangerous transporting it was. They crashed it on a truck at 70mph... and the outer shell didn't even crack, much less rupture the containers inside it. Further, the waste isn't immediately dangerous. It has to be cleaned up fast, but its solid and easily contained in new transports.

It isn't psychological that nuclear waste is preferable to uncontrollable fossil fuel pollutants, but nothing is ever good enough for those who envision chaos.

  • My point was that Yucca Mountain is far more preferable than where we now store nuclear waste. I have seen a film of a train crashing into a big ball of fire with no damage to the containers. The psychological aspect comes in because people are afraid of Yucca Mountain because the waste is "not visible." Surveys and focus groups show that psychologically, people distrust this kind of storage. Sitting out in the open is actually preferable, psychologically, even though it makes no sense.

  • I was listening to the radio a couple of months ago and a guy called in to the station and said he lived in South Dakota. Temperatures there were reportedly around -15 degrees. The guy calling said this: "Well thank God for global warming or we'd really be screwed."

  • "Except, as it turns out, the collapse of this ice shelf really doesn't have so much to do with global warming as it has to do with a volcano in the area generating war under-ice water currents: " Ha ha

  • u r dumb global warming is not just warming dipstick, notice its getting colder in some areas and warmer in others... come to canada and enjoy our new 40 plus temperatures :)

  • ohh goodness forbid ice melt in the summer, lets watch this winter and see what happens

  • I suppose you believe there wouldn't be any CO2 if humans did nothing to impact the environment either. *rolls eyes*

We're here, and we have cultures and societies to maintain. That takes fuels and technology, and in the scheme of things nuclear tech is much more efficient in just about every way possible, EVEN considering the waste.

When one starts tossing around terms like "ignorant" and "stupid," it is usually the person using those terms that fits them best.

  • Seeing all that ice and views of Albert dancincing through my head make me wanna go pee. Global warming is gonna kill us all!!

IF WE DONT ALL DIE FROM CANCER, GUN VIOLENCE, LACK OF HEALTH CARE, OR MY FAVORITE..., TERRORISTS!

Lighten up America!! (no pun intended)

  • Ohhhh Snap.

  • I was reading on Science Daily that even though global warming is heating up the earth, it won't really affect the water that much.

Maybe someone could collaborate on this and explain it to me?

  • I have one question for all the ignorant people who believe that man is the cause of global warming...

IF MAN IS THE CAUSE OF GLOBAL WARMING, THEN HOW COME THE FUCKIN POLAR CAPS ON MARS ARE MELTING AT A FASTER RATE!!!!!!!!!!!!! IS OUR CARBON EMMISIONS FLOATING THROUGH SPACE AND AFFECTING MARS TOO? HELLO!!! YOU GUYS HAVE GOT TO LOOK A LITTLE DEEPER THAN THE LIES IN AN INCONVEINENT TRUTH.

  • this winter is the world's average coldest winter in over 50 years

  • i guess that's good cuz of all the warming that went, i mean is, going on...

  • what does that even mean?

  • Bring on the global warming!! I'm tired of the cold. We need to speed up the greenhouse effect! Lets all start driving 70's muscle cars and full sized trucks

  • Why shouldn't people in the north also be able to enjoy warm weather? I am doing my part.

  • good, i want some of that glacier ice for my whisky

  • Don't believe everything Al Gore tells you to believe.

  • but... but... he has charts and stuff!

  • ice that was above water and not floating that falls into the ocean = raised sea level

read that equation for what it is, get over the hype about global warming and the counter-hype about a global warming conspiracy, accept facts for what they are, and form your own conclusions. and shut the fuck up already, all of you. you all sound so fucking stupid.

  • There is no global warming.

-Melting Ice does not increase the sea level because it was already in the sea, get it genius?

PS: I am not stupid and all my colleagues call be brillant. I am just doing an excellent work for my oil company.

  • I severely hope that the "Melting ice does not increase the sea level because it was already in the sea" is a sarcastic comment. Because if it isn't, I severely question some people's view of proven science. Put a couple huge cubes of ice in a cup, then fill the cup up to the brim with water. Now you have a cup full of water with ice floating at the top. According to you, when the ice melts, the water level will stay the same, correct? Well, be a Bill Nye, experiment, and tell me the results.

  • I am not jumping on, what some call, the "global warming" bandwagon. I am not a scientist, nor was Al Gore in his documentary; however, data has proven that there is a problem, and that if left unattended, could change the Earth drastically. Now based on the comments I have read so far (which there is no wrong or right), preventive steps by the majority of people commenting here seem very unlikely to happen. Just please respect the facts that have been given, and judge your actions accordingly.

  • dork

  • I don't know if you're serious but that only counts for floating ice IE north pole.

  • As soon as all the ice on Antarctica is gone, we can start drilling for oil there!

  • Who cares, bigger ice shelves fell off in the 90s and 2000's, and what? We still living the same way, same temperature, same everythign... Science is so flawed. If all of Antarctica melted, we'd still have everything the same.. Nothing would change, NOTHING. Stop believing the hype, you Scientologist clowns! I hope all of Antarctica melts, just to prove my point, God you people are slow, dull, and retarded!

  • hahahaha. your almost right.

  • Oh no a new danger were supposed to be afraid of.

  • A Texas ice cube!

Why those oil boys think of everything.

  • that ice chunk looks pretty squared off like it was hand cut. 0:14

  • i ate mexican tonight that things gone by the morning

  • FOR SALE: Large lot in Antarctic. Will be gone soon. Bring wetsuit for showing.

  • Uhhh icebergs have been breaking off since the dawn of time!

  • Also, are you talking about Yucca Mt? Its not even open yet (so can't be "full), and it will be able to safely contain nuclear waste for a century. It will take the mistakes out of individual plants, protect the waste from bad intentions.

Even with its waste, nuclear power is cheaper, cleaner, AND safer than mining for coal or drudging oil.

They're also breeding new bacteria to try and break the waste down faster.

Know your topic before spouting stereotypical, fear-based opinions.

  • Its the ultimate in ignorant arguments to assume ignorance on the part of someone who disagrees with you, simply for the fact they disagree.

I don't call people who believe the global warming myths ignorant. Why would you call those that don't believe in it that? I know you care for the Earth, but there are MANY professionals who doubt the politicized version of the Earths current state.

  • I LOVE GLOBAL WARMING!!!

  • This has nothing to do with global warming, as the Antarctic has actually cooled. It is thought to be caused by changing currents in the sea. Now that the global warming brigade are loosing credibility, they are thrashing around desparately trying to find anything that might support them. They hope that public misunderstanding will help to maintain their credo.

  • yeah sweet this happens every year...

  • blah blah blah, i have heard enough about this ice cube. but no one has said anything about why it would harm our environment if this thing disappears. couldn't more water just frekn' freeze again when it gets colder???? give it up.

  • Can we get Al Gore out there to stand on it?

  • cleveland. still snowing. i want global warming to kick in pretty soon.

  • ik this blows

  • its like 50 right now. i bet its gonna snow in may this year.

  • whats gonna kill us first global warming or new world order hmm i wonder or could it perhaps be a world war 3 state of emergencey that is theee question....lol im jk im not that crazy but thats pretty much what its comming down to

  • thats not crazy at all. in fact thats most likely true.

global warming will not hardly even affect our grandchildren.

  • One of the problems is that global warming is a diversionary problem. Anyone wonder why it pops up so desperate for attention when it does? Anyone ever notice how it makes huge, Earth-shattering claims in conjunction with powerful political shifts?

Whats really crazy is that the world believes science is a "majority vote," and that we, who are in the minority who don't believe the chaos-myths, simply must be wrong because we don't agree with the majority. Since when did science take votes?

  • People better do something before that thin strip of ice completely melts. And i agree with Bugstomper2, the hydrogen fuel cell should've been perfected years ago!

At this rate, the Earth will come to an end WAYY earlier than expected. Hope I'm dead before that

  • jessie, jessie, jessie...i really hope your kidding. the hydrogen fuel cell? how about non-point, anti-matter, or zero point energy systems, or anti gravity propulsion? they had that technology for 60 years. you are misinformed. if you want to really learn the truth

check out two things that will change the way you see it forever.

UFO Disclosure Project - the whole 2 hours on youtube. &

Alex Jones's Global Warming or Global Governance?

    .

  • nothing lives forever

  • hey look, white stuff

  • I didn't know ice in nature stayed squared up like that... waves in the ocean, ice crystals, never a square...Hmmmm. is this the chunk as big as connecticut?

  • when u smash ice it breaks off in straight lines usually. like if you take a thick sheet of ice and brake it over your knee it would break in a straight line, cutting it in half or something like that. Like have you ever broken a plastic or metal, don't you notice how it breaks off smooothly like leaving a flat surface where it cracked. that explains how this happens naturally.

  • So what? Its a well known fact that the Earth and Sun go through periodic cycles of warming and cooling. This is no different. Its all just BS brought about by the greatest loser of our time Al Gore. Hes just looking for attention so he came up with this crap into making him look like a hero. Just take a look at a little South Park episode called "Manbearpig". All the truth is right in that episode.

  • Excuse me, but Al Gore has really opened up peoples minds, and most people want to do something about it, but we still have a few "non-believers," that don't care about the consequences for the future children of this world. Unfortunately people like you keep us from making a difference.

  • We "non-believers" care about the Earth and our future just as much as you. We also care about the massive amount of money going into this hugely politicized (see: NOT REAL SCIENCE) issue, who ends up paying for the solutions, and how growing countries will suffer under restrictions that shouldn't be even thinkable for struggling countries, but are being considered due to the chaos-myth of global warming.

People like us also realize that science isn't a majority vote. Its about TRUTH.

  • If you want to take the word of the man who claims he invented Google and the internet as truth, be my guest. By the way, how did you get around town today? $5 says you didn't use your bike. Glad to see people are "making a difference" by complaining about them being the only ones that care then go hop into their SUVs to spread the word. The English language has a word for that called "hypocrisy". Look it up.

  • Don't let them get to you, Live4hockey2. In 50 years they'll still be screaming how the world is coming to an end. Its beyond scientific truth now... global warming has become a religion. Those who oppose it are ridiculed, despite the evidence presented that, in normal scientific theaters, would demand further study.

Instead we get grand, massively expensive "solutions" (the US will pay the bill, undoubtedly), which may do more damage than our so called 'manmade' global warming did.

  • That's why all the sea ice is melting, and glaciers are receding in the arctic. Nevermind the antarctic. Should've perfected the hydrogen fuel cell years ago! But everyone just wants to make money NOW, and fuck the future!

  • Oh my GOD! What are we going to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Stop driving you BASTARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!OH MY GODDDDDDDDDDDD

  • global warming is a swindle

  • You're being swindled by big business which wants YOU to keep using all of the technology and resources that are bad for the environment.

If these companies admit global warming exists, you do realize how much money they would lose, right?

  • Do you have any idea how much money, via FREE GRANTS, are paid out to global warming organizations and studies? If a researcher says "hey, there isn't a problem," do you think he gets a huge grant? No! If he says "the world is dying and its mans fault," he gets MASSIVE grants.

The number of jobs supported by global warming is also huge. You can hardly say they're any less biased than any other company.

The moment this became a political issue, it destroyed the hope for real science.

  • woah dude you like took u a whole page for comments O_o

  • Lol! Sorry... I've had caffiene, and I'm bored like crazy.

    *steps away from the keyboard*

  • Let me guess so is evolution no?

  • that's not looking too good.

  • Thanks Hummer drivers!

  • ? wtf with ur coment =s

  • I think he is trying to point out that people are ignorant enough to care how their CAR looks... Unfortunately people find that they need a gas hogging car to look cool.

  • FAKE

I don't believe in instrumentation, theories, laws, well formed hypothesis, facts, or my own eyes. Now where's my hamburger and tv?

  • LET IT BE FREE

  • Yes we are all going to die

  • Hahahha!!

    Cartman.

  • happens all the time. BFD its summer you ding bats stop letting these people play you

  • well its starting to be summer for the northern hemisphere, but antarctica is in the southern hemisphere and moving into winter, so itll get colder there and freeze up again

  • If you read the associated New Scientist article you would see that they attribute this break up due to the actiob of long period ocean waves which 'crack' the ice, rather than the sun simply melting it away.

  • Uhh... read the article again, 'cause THIS is what it says "Normally, a slurry of sea ice floating in front of the ice shelf would act as a wave breaker, keeping the surrounding waters still. But this year -- as in 2002 when the Larsen B shelf dramatically disappeared in just 30 days -- warm temperatures melted away much of the sea ice. The glaciologists believe this is what has caused the break up of the Wilkins ice shelf in recent weeks."

  • The ice is blue because its been compacted over hundreds/thousands of years by continuing snow fall forcing all of the entrapped air out resulting in a much denser ice.

I presume (though am not certain) that this would result in a higher modulus of rigidity which would cause brittle fractures (the sharp edges you see.)

  • Umm... no. There is no such thing as "denser" ice.

The color of ice is in the refraction of available light. The same huge ice chunk one day may be murky white, and the next a beautiful bright blue, depending on sunlight, direction, cloud cover, and so on.

Unless, of course, someone added food coloring. Then it may well be blue.

  • We are all fucking screwed

  • If the ice melts where can I go to club baby seals

  • me too... got some new clubs. whateva! i do what i want.

  • good point thank allah i eat whales mostly pregnant ones mostly.

  • the ice look so nice

    so straight so flat

    the edge so sharp

  • yea... summer is back... and so what ?

  • Line up Lemings. There is no way to make people who have there mind set one way or the other to take a real look at things. Just so you know where I'm coming from. We did not create the iceage, or the record high temps from over 100 years ago. By the way the """Scientist""" that pushed this are now saying that global warming is taking a break for some reason??

  • 20-30 years ago it was an Ice Age, global cooling. Now everybody is panicking over global warming. In another 20-30, they'll probably be screaming about global neutrality, since neither of the other extremes worked out for them.

  • Glad I'm not the only one out there not lining up!!!!!

  • good point hartnell114 , very interesting

  • why was the ice blue?

i mean really, whats making it blue?

i bet the blue stuff has something to do with cracking and melting, infact i was thinking today, icecube in the sun, doesnt crack it just melts, same as one in a cup, so why is ours breaking up and not simply melting, why arent the corners rounded?

  • WE wrench are suppose to wear a resperator. ( sorry bad speller I just fix cars) when working on R134a systems but I dont know anyone who does. Next time a volcano spits its life into the air someone needs to YELL at it and say SHaME SHAME

  • Case in point R12 was removed from the market it was destroying the OZONE layer. WELL they replaced it with R134a....well it is a bit better on the OZONE HOWEVER, did you know its extremely toxic to breath in. So next time any of you turn on your r134a ACs in yoru cars, know that if it leaks inside and it does often, and you get a direct enhale of it. you can BURN you lungs. BUt the OZONE is safier now and your lungs are burn and yes there has been people who have died from R134aa exposure

  • ummm global warming happened millions of years before man was here who was to blame then? BUGS? ALIENS? DINOs?

Of course we add to it, but not in the way AL Gore wishes sheep to believe. I am a wrench and I actually understand A LOT about global warming and what actually is casuing it and isnt. You would be very surprised how many things were passed over so many heads just to get more money from them in the name of global warming

  • Maybe you know about global warming, but I think Al Gore was trying to point out that even though it has been going on for millions of years ago, we are really starting to bump up the heat.
