@krugz15 Yes you would apply the stenciled paint before the polyurethane. You can't paint much on top of poly...except maybe another oil based product. So, yeah...stencil before the clear coat.
Thank you for this. I must be a visual learner because I just read about 5 different "how-to's" about repainting chairs and none of it stuck. I watched this and now I feel ready to start!
Very nice.. What i do is sand it all the way down and use something called "old english" on it, no paint no varnish, nothing. It looks great , i think paint kills the look of wooden furniture but its just a personal thing, great video.
Great video for someone like me who's starting out. Would like to know what kind of paint you are using? I want to paint my chairs green, is that possible?
OMG you are soooo funny, i couldn't listen to what you were saying for reading your funny descriptions/titles. You really should have your very own DIY show, i would be sure to watch it is it was available in the UK, thanks for making a boring job fun :-) xxxxx 10/10
Thank you for making a very understandable guide to repainting old furniture for newbies:0)

Great video! How would I stencil furniture as well? Could I do it after base paint, before the clear stuff (sorry, I forgot what it is called!)
