This is not even David Copperfield's trick; you can actually learn it from some of the magic books you can pick up at Barnes and Noble or a bookstore; this has been around before David Copperfield; other magicians have performed this as well such as Lance Burton. I still perform it every now and then, but I like teaching it to people as well; but you would be surprised on how many people don't know it.
