The Republican Party, as it stands now, is not welcoming to middle of the road Republicans like an Eisenhower or Colin Powell, which is why Powell backed Obama. Rush Limbaugh, Hannity, O'reily, and Fox News do neither their Party nor the country any favors. They serve only for divisive exchanges and seek to destroy the idea of logical debate and factual journalism.
The GOP tried that with McCain. That experement has proven not to work. The GOP will have much greater success running on fiscal conservative policies, not moderation.
With all due respect, that is the most ridiculous thing I have heard all day. Colin Powell is a patriot, but as a politician, he is a total hack. He is trying to rebuild his reputation amongst the NY and DC elites. He basically shot McCain right between the eyes at the exact moment it would hurt the Republican party the most. He voted for Carter as well for God's sake. He brings nothing to the party whatsoever.
Newt is the man, but I'm not sure what he is trying to accomplish here.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
I think the GOP's only hope is for somebody like Colin Powell to lead them. Newt, Cheney, and Palin are too polarized.

The GOP tried running a centrist and he lost to Obama. I for one am looking forward to the end of "me-too" Republicans.
