  • @1walkgirl: Does this Walkman have a line-out socket ?

  • @HamtaroEL

    Hello!

Yes it does!, and 1 headphone socket!!

  • Any update as to what mix the song is?

  • made in japan

  • Are those buttons mechanical or electronic?

  • Those are mechanical!, when the walkman was not in use for a while they

go rather dufficult, but when the walkman is warm the go really well :-)

  • @1walkgirl Wow, mechanical, I really can't see how the gears press the head on to the tape from that direction. Interesting though.

  • @1walkgirl I bought a WM-DD22, pretty bulky, but you just don't see these old Sonys any more.

  • the best walkman ever is the WM-DDII with Sony Dynamic Stereo Headphones MDR-51 !!!!

  • such a cool model.

    havn't found this one yet.

  • Does anyone know where to buy that gear ? Have a WM-D3 in mint condition but the gear broke, they sure have used a metal gear.

  • No, i do not know, maybe you can look on the stereo2go forum!! :-)

  • This is probably the best WM ever made. I never had it but I loved my DD3 which broke down of the common problem- center gear. I still have the Panasonic SX3 and the SX33. They are stoll old school and to my ears sound better than any Sony (except the DD3). I never heard the D3 and the D6C. I need to get them on Ebay. BTW, Is there a special reason to use an amorphous head other than that it is durable? Panasonic SX33 uses a 12micron -gap head which is way better than 20micron standard alloy.

  • I do not know about heads, but this walkman does sound fantastic!!

the gear is good on this walkman, maybe it was not used much?!

    :D

  • Yeah, if the gear is good, it hasn't been used. It's a remarkable machine... the DD series in general is but it puzzles me as to why the designers chose a plastic gear, let alone a fragile 1mm one. A steel one would make it indestructible. That would probably mess with the friction coeffs... Which one is better? DC2 or the DD9?

  • The dc2 is my favourite,as the dd9 does not go very loud, it does seem the sound from the dc2 is more high and clear!

But the dd9 still is great as it is a very heavy walkman!

    :-)

  • Interesting! What headphones are you using? Some people have stated DD) is the better one wirh more sensitive headphones. The DC" has definitely more juice! But imo, technical specs mean nothing much really since they can little or not at all describe the sound. If you love it, keep it and listen to it!

  • Dolby C. It has to be good if it has Dolby C.

  • jup :D

  • The WM DD II inkl. Sony Dynamic Stereo Headphones MDR 51 sounds better !!!!

  • like the song, what is it?

  • Oh, I actually do not remember! :O

I lost the little paper where it was written

on that I kept in the cassette case :-(

I will do some investigations and when I know I will tell you! :-)

  • cool thanks

  • Have you found the name of that song yet? By the time you'll reply, I'll likely have found out, but for others who may want to know, it would be appreciated! Thanks...

  • After a bit of research, it seems to be "Boneshakers - Don't Go Away". I'm still trying to find out exactly what mix it is, but it's definitely them. If I am able to find the MP3, I'll upload it to YouTube...

  • @madmvd

    I will ask around!

I know fro who I did borrow the cd from then, could be a ben liebrand mix!!

    :-)
