@funboy741 Sorry, Olympic was too old to continue service. She was good for becoming a hotel. I've seen rumors and the Dutch wiki that a French millionaire wanted to preserve the Olympic in France.. if she was in France she would have been set on fire by the Nazi's, or the war it self.

The Olympic was the only Liner in her class to serve in the !920s & 1930s. Poor Olympic. Why was she scrapped? Why couldn't they save her?

If they could have found all the scrapped parts, they could have rebuild her,lol just kidding. But they stupid to scrap her, they should have kept her as a tribute to Titanic and Britannic and the people who lost their lives on her sister ships, but all white star wanted was the money as usual. Odd how the 1st of the 3 survived. I said it before and I'll say it again Olympic should have sank that way she would have been immortalized like Titanic and Britannic.

@codekiller2 As far as im aware, theese ships were scraped not for Greed, but because they were built for a generation that had evolved, the conditions on board were falling behind, Sea tavel was bottoming out partly due to the war and the depression, The costs to bring this and many other ships was silly compared to designing and building brnad new ones tailored to the new market, and with theese ships being broken down gave many thousands of people work which helped curve the depression

I know its been said and done but the Olympic was far too important to be simply scrapped can anyone imagine if the Olympic served as a floating Hotel like the Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth II to preserve her would be alot more respectful than to simply scrap her its just a huge waste

@Ourumov66 In 1935 a France man tried to purchase her, but when they heard the Olympic had holes in her hull, and she was very old and tired she had to be scrapped.

Bearing in mind that Titanic and Britannic lay on the sea bed and that therefore the Olympic was unique, she should have been preserved. As should Brunel's great iron ship the SS Great Eastern, of course. Oxy acetylene cylinders hadn't been invented by the time Great Eastern finally bit the dust, so she had to be demolished by hand using hammers.

She looked so beautiful in color, if we get time travel I'm going to stop her from being scraped, screw the consequences! Those pictures of her being scraped were just to painful to watch. At least she is now steaming in a place with her two sisters, a place safe from the cutters torch and ice. RIP Olympic, we all miss you.
