Get some blues compilation CDs, everyone's tastes are different. But to name a few... Robert Johnson Blind Willie Johnson Elmore James Stevie Ray Vaughan Jimi Hendrix Albert King B.B. King John Lee Hooker Bob Brozman Johnny Winter Buddy Guy And many more...
Can you reccomend some good Muddy waters and Freddie King recordings? I'm a big fan of B.B King, Albert King,Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Gary Moore and Joe Bonamassa but I've never actually heard the other two play.
Freddie King - Have you ever loved a woman, someday after a while,my feeling for the blues, hideaway, aint no sunshine when shes gone, gheto woman, shes a burglar,I love the woman, its to bad things are going so tough,Its your move,The things I used to do
Muddy Waters - mamish boy,nineteen years old,long distance call,still all right,shes a fool
George Thorogood ripped this off back in the 80's. And didn't JLH learn from Bobby Brady (like all of us) that it's not cool to be bad like Jesse James?
yeah i grew up durring the big hair bands of the 80s but i've always liked this old blues style music better. i do like the 90's grunge but i still always went back to listening to rock and roll roots. i think it all started when "Blue Brothers" movie came out when i was 8 years old.
That is nonsense. John Lee Hooker was born in Clarksdale , which is near Cardiff , Wales.
He was one of the original River Severn Delta Bluesmen , and used to play with Howlin`Evans before he moved to Mississippi to work as a software designer in 1937

No disrespect to John Lee Hooker, but how come he acceptable to them educated middle class white folks now, so we can all go listen to his murder song and it be cool. But some Gangsta rapper do like the same and they all be wailing how it's the end of the world. Yet in 20 years time, we all know Snoop Doggy Dog be revered as ethnicy snazz just like Johnny. Makes you kinda think, don't it?
white people do that with everything, but it's not necessarily a bad thing!! i'm a black dude and i'm smart enough to relize that without interest of white fans i probably would not know john lee hooker or many other of my fave blues, soul, and jazz artists!!!!!!!! Black people have a way thoughout history of not embracing and revering their own musicians THE WAY WE SHOULD!! hell i'm sure in the 40's and 50's many black folks prolly thought he was just some ol' country bumpkin, right???
Why does it always have to be " you people", "us black people" and "black people and their own musicians". A man is a man no matter the color of his skin. Some are ugly, some are cute, some are smart and some are right damn stupid. But this whole racial grouping is absurd. Yeah and I am a white guy.
Hell, thank you for making black people understand and become aware to avoid people like you. At least they got a mind set and goal to avoid and become better than you so they can show that they are motivational and progressive people. It people like you who think this way that blacks are who they are today.
Being a above average player,i just love this guys riffs. So special in every note.I dont think there is any1 around 2day that could fill his shoes. So influential.Deep Southern Blues.I reckon any1 who has made a buck playing blues should give 1/2 of it to this guys family/trust.Unreal sound, beyong the "vintage vibe".....
Low down! I thanks all those who post great blues music by Johnny Lee and Billie and B.B. We must ensure that this incredible music never dies. It's part of American history and so much better than a lot of stuff on the radio today.
Jimmy Page said he already heard of some blues artist, but never heard of this artist, it was called rumors... By fact we know that he never had an album by this artist and he said quote on quote "Whole Lotta Love and whatever you say it sounds similar to, doesn't even sound the same, and not played the same, just that tiny change between.. Uh?... (cough), Whole Lotta Love was not stolen from me..." If you ever read the trial set, when they got sued, by 2 or 3 artists...
blues is in the heart of the beholder. texas flood see that my grave is kept clean hell hound on my trail i'm tore down five long years red house the sky is cryin mannish boy born under a bad sign thing that i used to do how many was that?
