Question- if man is the pinicle of the theory of evolution
Why do animals and some tree's live longer than we do? Perhaps the pinicle of the theory of evolution is not man but the yew tree, one that has lived for 5,000 years.
After reading lots of factoids and articles, the Swan had never been proven to live longer than 42, and that surprised scientists quite a lot really..... Maybe in very very rare cases horses live into their 40's but late fourtys is unheard of..... Get your facts straight!
@leoapp1223 G'day... Um, sorry, but this is wrong. In 1999 a New Scientist article told of a Bowhead Whale harpooned in 1995 that had a STONE Harpoon- Point in it. It had got away from an Indian on the Canadian West-Coast, before Iron Broadheads as Trade-Goods appeared. So, they estimated it was 230 yrs old when killed. The Bowhead eats Krill & Plankton, lives to 600, and doesn't breed till 120. Ciao !
What about the Nile crocodile which has been reported to live well into their second century, or the sperm whale which is speculated\ commonly believed to live longer that 200 years baring environmental hazards. And there are elephants that have lived beyond their first century. Is this video based on average lifespan, or longest reported? And if on average, under what context, natural death due to age, or including death due to environmental hazard?

There was a grizzly bear in a zoo in Kansas that lived to be 56. I know you are probably doing age in the wild, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
How did we find out how long these animals can live? Do scientists just observe them from birth until death and see how long it takes? And is it in captivity or in the wild because studies show lots of animals die faster in captivity.
I know of a parrot that outlived 1 owner that had it since young(the owner) the parrot was unknown age..and its still okey...in the new family.. its now over tracket 100year... so they not realy sure how old the ara parrot can be yet...
I had no idea a fish can live that long (205 years) beyond the lifespan of humans and I didn't know a clam can live for four centuries. I like your videos, they're fascinating.
that is incorrect the longest living animal ever is the imortal jellyfish or infinite jellyfish. this jelllyfish has the ability to retrn to its baby form after its lived its life and repeat it withot dieing
many sea animals like sea corals, sea sponges, sea anemones, jellyfish, etc are technically immortal cos they have a special ability to regenerate themselves so they may become young again. so they don not age unlike all animals showed here which have limited lifespan.and the only way they can die if they are killed by predators, included humans or killed because of disease/polluted environment. i think in Biology most of us have studied about this phenomenon.

yeah, I call bull on the turkey vulture, the oldest one ever and is still alive is 34 years, it's the griffon vulture that has reached 118, two different species that are from two different ends of the globe.

you forgot about Asiatic lions. they are endangered. most of them are kept in captivity. that's why their life span is higher than african lions. african lions often die being killed by other lions, defending their territory.

That makes more sense, but it makes your numbers look very wrong. Like with the horse age. I work with horses and its a freak instance if they live to be 50 years old. Most horse live around 35 years or less usually. I saw someone else post that race horses usually only live around 25, which is true.

from some horse websites: horse average lifespan is 35 years (racing horse is shorter, 25 years), the new record for oldest living horse (official measurement) was named Old Billy, 62 , an anomaly. he died already. Other record is a horse named Sugar Puff, 57.Some horses can reach maximum age for about 50 years. (more than 50 is extremely rare).to determine the life expectancy of a horse is by examining their teeth.by the way i haven't updated this video, new record can be easier to find.
a bowhead whale can live longer than 200 years and the oldest tortoise was about 255 years old when it died in 2005 i think (born in 1750 and was the size of a bathtub.)
did you put the avaerage life span of the animals or the longest recorded lifespan, because i've eard of a tortoise that lived to be 188 years old. you should have included the oldest recorded lifespan of each animal.

Humans have been recorded to live 150 years in recent times; if you go back to biblical times though we would have the best lifespan. This is more of a "Modern" lifespan of animals that are officailly documented.
@CaptianGoober12 actually, clams,at least one species, can live for 400 years. i read somewhere about a species of clam that can live for several hundred years, which is good because it only grows about 1/100th of an inch every year, making it the slowest growing animal in the world.
To every1 who thinks we are not animals... There are 5 kingdoms, we are part of the animal kingdom. We are mammals, descended from an ape like ancestor eg. homo erectus and just because we wear clothes or use technology does not mean we are not animals. Humans are not there own special organism we are animal.
a species of jellyfish is biologically immortal as a fully grown adult jellyfish can reduce itself to polyp or whatever.a hydra(genus) is also immortal

most are not average lifespan but top recorded lifespan from zoos or captivity. but for few animals here, i couldn't find top recorded lifespan, only average lifespan.
Im not quite sure but it think there was this aninmal (might of been a bacteria) that doesn't die unless it was killed. I think i read this somewhere. Not sure though.
what? i replied to someone who said a decade is more than 20 years, i definitely said that a decade = 10 years. by the way I'm not from China, but Indonesia
I didn't include sea creatures like jellyfish, sea spongs, sea corals, or anemones cos they have special ability to regenerate, they don't age like all animals on this video
some animal experts claimed more than 1000 years. for sea sponges even 10.000 years ;O. but because they don't age, and they can regenerate so it's harder to measure their real age.
The swan shouldn't be number 8 on the list, that data refers to the longest lifespan ever recorded while many of the other animals are the average. The average for captive swans is 50 years and 7 or 8 years in the wild.
i didn't include sea creatures like jellyfish, sea spongs, sea corals, or anemones cos they have special ability to regenerate, they don't age like all animals on this video
WE ARE HUMANS MADE IN THE IMAGE OF GOD. NO MATTER WHAT YOU SAY WERE NOT ANIMALS, ALTHOUGH WE ARE WORSE THEN ANIMALS, WE KILL OUR CHILDREN, WE KILL FOR MONEY AND GREED, BUT WE ARE STILL HUMANS NO MATTER WHAT.

@leoapp1223 hey theres a whale called Balaena mysticetus that live 200 years
silentsniper321 1 year ago
@leoapp1223 Technically immortal right? Most Jellies and such are probably killed or eaten before they can live to be to old.
jnk1291 1 year ago
many sea aniamals like sea corals, sea sponges, sea anemones, jellyfish, etc are technically immortal cos they have a special ability to regenerate themselves so they may become young again. so they don not age unlike all animals showed here which have limited lifespan.and the only way they can die if they are killed by predators, included humans or killed because of disease/polluted environment. i think in Biology most of us have studied about this phenomenon.

Yes, I heard that was true as well.
crispysmith11 1 year ago
@dmy2157 Yes but lobster will have a shorter life span on average cause they are delicious and will most likely be eaten by pirates.

so is this video based on the average age of the animals u listed?
tonychoitellem 1 year ago
most are not average lifespan but top recorded lifespan from zoos or captivity. but for few animals here, i couldn't find top recorded lifespan, only average lifespan.

Yes we are humans but we are considered animals by the fact that we are primates like monkeys and apes. we are related to monkeys and apes too.

Im not quite sure but it think there was this aninmal (might of been a bacteria) that doesn't die unless it was killed. I think i read this somewhere. Not sure though.

Can't the water bear live decades?
itaymr 1 year ago
yes, but not over 20 years.
leoapp1223 1 year ago
@leoapp1223 but a decade is more than 20 years :x
itaymr 1 year ago
1 decade = 10 years
we often hear 'the decade 70s, 80s, 90s', so 10 years
maybe you talked about century = 100 years

MrLizardboi97 1 year ago
u forgot the immortal jellyfish and the antartic sponge
2fresh28 1 year ago
I didn't include sea creatures like jellyfish, sea spongs, sea corals, or anemones cos they have special ability to regenerate, they don't age like all animals on this video
leoapp1223 1 year ago
@leoapp1223 how long does the immortal jellyfish live ? lol
itaymr 1 year ago
some animal experts claimed more than 1000 years. for sea sponges even 10.000 years ;O. but because they don't age, and they can regenerate so it's harder to measure their real age.
leoapp1223 1 year ago
The swan shouldn't be number 8 on the list, that data refers to the longest lifespan ever recorded while many of the other animals are the average. The average for captive swans is 50 years and 7 or 8 years in the wild.
peachywink1 1 year ago

WE ARE HUMANS MADE IN THE IMAGE OF GOD. NO MATTER WHAT YOU SAY WERE NOT ANIMALS, ALTHOUGH WE ARE WORSE THEN ANIMALS, WE KILL OUR CHILDREN, WE KILL FOR MONEY AND GREED, BUT WE ARE STILL HUMANS NO MATTER WHAT.
