It bothers me when people shit on this movie just because its popular, and it has a few scenes that drag. This movie is fucking amazing and gets me emotional and shit and i dont know why
@tykjen76 Great work. I was wondering if you would be able to simply add Cobb looking at Ariadne and the others, then cut out when he realizes Fischer hasn't got a clue. Makes it more powerful, don't you think? Anyways, good job.
@N1k1mon Thanks. I feel ya, but I think those last moments became something special for Cobb and Saito as they woke up on the plane, after who knows how long time they spent in Limbo.
Some of this would've made a SIIIIIIICCCCCKKKK trailer for this film. I mean imagine suddenly seeing it graces the screens as you sit waiting for your film to start - you'd be like "WHAT IN THE FUCK IS THIS?!", never mind it being a Christopher Nolan flick
@TheIrishAvengerCBM The movie begins with the end, basically. Saito died in the dream and woke up to a new reality in Limbo. His reality became being old and filled with regret, while waiting for "someone"..
@Anze491992 Cobb just dreamt one level further into Limbo. But he did get stabbed by his own projection, so he re-entered Limbo, onto Saito's shores. Both Saito and Cobb had a radical notion that they were in a dream down there, but they needed to remind eachother. And Cobb was reminded by reality when he saw the totem still spinning on the table. Both returned to reality once they KNEW they were in limbo. Saito most likely shot Cobb then himself after they accepted they were in limbo.
@tykjen76 help me out here, I thought shooting themselves wouldn't get them out of the dream because the sedative was to strong or something....so how did shooting each other in limbo get them back to reality...
@xyGeneration1001 The powerful sedative was no longer in effect. But they still had to remind eachother of what was really real. Only then could they escape limbo.
@tykjen76 Yes I know that also and basicly everything about inception its my favorite film of all time, But how come saito was way older than Cobb? Was it because he was a few minutes longer in there?
@1Minute60Seconds Not really. Saito and Cobb had shared a phrase previous times in their earlier discussions remember. And in the first layer of the dream, Cobb was specific and told Saito that he would not wake up if he got killed, and that he instead would be gone so long in limbo that he would become "an old man". Then Saito followed up with "filled with regret". And when Saito woke up after being killed, he was already old and filled with regret. Many years had "already" passed for him.
What I don't get is why Cobb isn't older than Saito in Limbo. Cobb went into limbo with Ariadni to find Fisher while Saito was still alive in the third dream state. Saito died, therefore entering Limbo, while Cobb and Ariadni were still in there, which means that Cobb was in Limbo longer than Saito was, since Saito died after Cobb entered Limbo. Did I miss something?
@BigSal51 Cobb "knew" he was in Limbo. But for Saito it was different. He died by the gunshot wound in the dream. Woke up to a new reality formed by Limbo. And in that, he was already an old man filled with regret.
@tykjen76 Cheers, that makes a whole lot more sense. I think they could've done a better job of distinguishing the difference between dying and going to Limbo and going there voluntarily.
It also explains the reason why Ariadni and Fisher could get out through a kick, rather than have to wait the duration of the sedative as Yusuf explained before. Plus their bodies already existed in previous, running dream states, so getting the kick in limbo would just send them back to the previous dream.
@DavidAProduction thanks man! I did also make a shutter island+inception mashup, so I think we are thinking on the same page. cant explain how our minds work, but its fun to see what nobody else sees.
With the music playing and Cobb's whisper "come back" while Saito goes for the gun and then Cobb's eyes open in the airplane.. it's all just so bone-chilling!
@oooodaxteroooo then again, its the memories that help them get out. that is all i wanted to show in case some people missed the key moments. i understand you anyway ;) and im sure there are other videos around here where it is un-interrupted.
the thing that puzzles me is....according to the sedative and what the team discussed was that if you died in the dream you would go into limbo because of the potency of the sedative they were using. if that is so, then wouldnt cobb and saito go into a deeper limbo if they in fact did kill themselves to wake up?
@BennyBigPants2490 by this time the sedative had most likely worn off and the mission had been completed. Cobb having killed himself once more to renter Limbo now somewhere containing Saito, washes up on the shore of his subconscious with his mind muddled and being introduced to the aged Saito, they simultaneously remind one another that "this world is not real" and that they must kill themselves to wake up.
@tykjen76 i guess that could be a valid theory, considering that the film never shows us Saito's totem check. But even if it was his totem check he would have to dial another number to get Cobb through customs, or if the number he called to get Cobb through customs was the same number as his totem check it would still be tough to remember considering he was in limbo for about 60 years
@beatarmy22 You are correct. It is a little shame we did not get to see the others check their totems at all throughout the movie. But I guess that would only make things more valid ;)
@tykjen76 You're right also, I think that this is one of those movies that the more times you watch it the more things you pick up, which makes it fantastic. Btw we got a glimpse at Arthur's dice totem check when he showed it to Ariadne
@beatarmy22 Yes indeed, Inception is a cerebral masterpiece. Arthur showed his totem to Ariadne, that is true. And we got to see Ariadne topple her Chess piece totem..I almost forgot that one.
The only thing I don't understand about this movie now, having seen it twelve times, is the difference between these two scenes. Someone, please, explain this to me.
@0180917 I like to believe Cobb attempted more than once to snap Saito out of Limbo mode. First thing to notice, is when the guard places the top on the table, the following the shot shows the top upside down on the table. Following then is the slightly different dialogue between the recurring scenes. They could not escape eitherway until the sedative wore off..so, Cobb just had to repeat what he did until they woke up on the plane in reality.Get both killed, re-enter Limbo, repeat until out.
And saito also just as speachless, he could hardly believe it, but was straight on that phone to honour the agreement. I loved it when they were both reminding them selves in limbo of reality, the music enhanced to scene aswell so much, they took a chance, a "leap of faith" and killed themselves in limbo to wake up. Ima watch this again before i go to bed <3 thanks for upload pal.
This scene will remain with me a very long time and i will die knowing that Cobb DID get back to reality and DID see his children again. The more i watch this scene the more emtional i get :( i really do believe he got back to reality and thats so warming because when he woke up he couldn't believe it himself, looking around at his team, like thank god... im speachless we done it....im really going home.
@MrConrad1993 Its a every haunting and beautiful scene. And yea..the nod especially from Arthur on the plane says it all. "wow..cant believe we made it"
@essayreader2009 wrong....they dont just realize oh im in limbo...boom back to reality...they kill them selves. kinda like how leo and his wife did when they use to be in limbo.
@unqtious may be. Saito may have woke up in limbo already old. and just stuck with the notion of regret and waiting for someone..It dook some time before Cobb realized what he was doing there, until he saw the top. The one simple thing that connected the scenes.
the combination of the music, Cobb saying "come back with me....come back.." and saito grabbing the gun and then finally the waking up in the airplane always gives me goosebumps.. idk why. it just does...
@tykjen76 yeah it is a really good moment. you may think this is lame but whenever I hear that music (when Cobb says to come back) I get all choked up because it sounds so sad. and it makes me think about how much I miss my girlfriend cuz we're in a long distance relationship. but yeah. lol
@Italianboy225 same here. i also react to alot in the movie by remembering one i once lost, and some father issues ive dealt with. our level of empathy has really got struck by Inception alright is my notion.
@Italianboy225 thanks bro. I felt it had to be done, since both scenes as you say are a bit different. The only thing that connects them, is the top that Saito sets to spin in the first scene, leading it to be "still spinning" and helping Cobb to understand where he is when he sees it in the second scene. pure genius.
@tykjen76 yeah man for sure... now let me ask you something: do you think the ending was reality or a dream? I love having this discussion with people. I don't believe the ending can be left to interpretation, but rather there is a definitive answer. what do you think it is??? :D

For those of you who don't know:
Saito was killed in the dream, so he went into Limbo and he was in there fore decades (in dream years) when really it's only been a few hours.
He's watching the top and remembers why he's there, and is able to wake up that way.
