The comments (below) citing drugs as the cause (in my opinion) are spot on. However, I suppose (to be fair) it would only be right to categorize as one or more substances.

Example: I know of someone who tells Dr's she has ADD, so she can obtain direct stimulants in an effort to lose her appetite, and have increased (crack-head-esque) energy. This creates unusual and constant gestures and the like = body aches & twitching = RX pain narcotics and RX sleep meds.

That would be my supposition.
