I've been watching reruns of the old Bill Cosby Show on Retro Television Network and the theme song was such a trip. I just had to look it up. Somebody should call the police because anything this funky ought to be against the law.
I wonder if this song is where Adam Sandler got his inspiration for his Bill Cosby character on SNL (with the frizzle frazzle and the hizzle dizzle ;) )...
i was in santa monica three years ago and someone was handing out a cd for free and this song was on it. I had just left from getting my weed card, and i put this cd in and LOVED IT! HICKKY BURRR HICK BUR BUR HICKY BUR HICKY! LOL WTF ARE U SAYING COSBY! Love it.
JC on a popcicle stick!!!! All you guys/girls asking, "where can I find the tab(bass)" Where can I find the tab??... Well G**dam* it;s in the May 2011 of Bass Player Magazine. However....take or leave it... my advice that is. Take it from someone who has dedicated half his life to bass yet holds down dull teaching job. Go for it. TRUST YOUR EARS AND DON"T WAIT FOR THE GURU TO COME ALONG . If you have to listen to the same part 6000 times... it;s worth it, because YOU ...... LEARNED yo'self.
"Hikky Burr" bass notation is in Carol Kaye Electric Bass Lines No. 2. "I was Made to Love Her" bass notation is in Carol Kaye Electric Bass Lines No. 4. Enjoy.
@kayleedee1 Hikky Burr is funky as hell and Carol King deserves big props, but she IS NOT the bass palyer on "I was made to love her". The producer and the other musicians on that session agree it was the great James Jamerson. CK didn't claim to have played on that and other Jamerson tracks until he died.

@koko544 - The *complete* bass tab for this is in the current (May 2011) issue of Bass Player Magazine. Even the slides and tweaks are shown. And the accompanying article is full of great info about how this was recorded. You may have to hurry to find this before the June issue bumps it off the shelf.
Only if the Bill Cosby Show could have been as big of a hit as the Cosby show. It lasted only two seasons but I still loved it better than the Cosby show. By the way what a kick ass theme song here crank it up!
man I wish i could, but I can barely read tab myself. That's why I suggested by going by ear. Takes a bit of time, and practice, but you can get it. Carol Kaye, who did the bass line, has a website. I know she's not into tab, but teaches music. you might get a hold of her at carolkaye (dot) com and she if she has the music score. But I think you're probably going to be better off freelancing it.
