oui. my mistake. I thought she was dark blonde. but perhaps she just seems that way next to Galiote who has very dark hair. By ginger you mean a red/blonde yes? Sorry, my english leaves somthing to be desired.

Galiote is in love with him even tough he doesn't love her and despite facts that her father considers Jaquou his enemy, because Jacquou saved Galiote when they were children. This was actually his attempt to kill Galiote as revenge to the count for his father but he changes his mind and saves her instead. So she loves him. But as you can see if not understand from this video, the feeling is not returned.

For those who cannot speak French, Jacquou is angry with Galiote because she is the daughter of his enemy. She has come into his home uninvited to find shelter from the rain and he tells her to get out. She wants some dry clothes and some shelter but he dismisses her telling her to find it elsewhere. She begins to leave but has already caught a cough and he changes his mind and tells her to come in. He doesn't like her he is simply being a gentleman. He is in love with Lina, the blonde.
