If you perceive a domino effect due to the Sunni countries going nuclear as a result of a nuclear Iran, and hence categorize this as a threat, maybe you are a bit justified.
Which nation/s though? Only the Saudis have enough money, but enough know-how and research facilities? Egypt, Kuwait, Oman, UAE, Libya etc. etc. are distant possibilities, but you need to have some history of trying to acquire The Bomb..
I know that Iran can influence a lot of things, but they can do so even without Nukes!
Hi Imran, I was just going through some of your videos and like the content therein. This was the first video that sounded a jarring note to me. I would say that "A nuclear Iran is a game changer" but a blanket statement like "A nuclear Iran is a grave threat not only to the US, but also to India, Pak, Afganistan etc.", in my humble opinion, sounds like a simplified parroting of the US lines. Does sound like western statemts before India & Pak went nuclear. Why do you subscribe to this view?
@iamsri Thanks for the kind words. I think my lifelong track record of being on the wrong side of "popular" opinion and government stances spans 2 continents and 2 homelands, Pakistan and America. So, parroting the government line is strange to hear attributed to me. So, here's the thing with Iran. Iran has always harbored more than regional domination dreams. The current (and likely constant) so-called Islamic no-Fun fundamentalist regime is even more symptomatic of that but driven by religion.
@iamsri So, that is even more dangerous than Empire. A nuclear armed Iran would be far more threatening to its neighbors than say India and Pakistan are to OTHERS. They are to each other but not to the region. Iran, unfortunately, has a history (including under the evil Shah and the other extreme but equally evil Mullahs) of being a threat to other countries. If the mullahs are overthrown and true democracy comes to Iran, then my fears are erased. Thanks.
@imrananwar "Iran, unfortunately, has a history of being a threat to other countries"
Isn't this just the Arab and US perception. Except for Iraq, what country has Iran actually attacked? Under the 'evil' Shah, Iran was a US ally and gas supplier.
Having ambitions and potential qualifies many countries in the world as threats. A nuclear Iran is a great threat to Israel (as a Hezbollah patron), but still not a threat to the entire region. I agree tho' that the govt today, is repressive & evil.
Iran is NOT a thread to the world, although Israel may see it as a threat.
The ONLY threat in middle east is Israel
Iran is a Muslim country and it has never invaded any country in the last 300 years.
Imran why don't you tell your Gora Masters to force Israel to open its nuclear facilities ? Why is Israel allowed to be the only nuclear state in middle East ?
Imran your views do NOT represent Most Muslims or Pakistanis.
Appeasement! We all know how well that worked with Hitler. Don't piss off the Devil so he can take care of us at a later time. Sweet. I love how enlightened we're really getting.
What a silly thing to say, a nuclear Iran is dangerous? I see North Korea, Pakistan and America much MUCH more dangerous than Iran. Iran is the only player in the middle east that is effectively engaging taliban as well.
It is frankly risible that Iran, the 4th largest exporter of crude oil in the world, yet with a devastated economy, and which is a rampant proliferator of terrorism throughout the region, even thinks that Iran is in a positon to say: 'We are ready to hold talks on international cooperation and ways to resolve ongoing economic and security problems', in lieu of addressing the issue of its nuclear weapons programme.
Iran's economy is not devastated wtf are you talking about, they are a very developed country with a strong infrastructure, Iran itself is the worlds 10th largest automobile manufacturer and exporter.
With a GDP per capita of $12,000 Iran's economy is devastated in comparison to what it should be. This is not as bad as others in the region, such as Afghanistan. But it is hardly consistent with your claims, nor does it merit any need for the indulgence of a nuclear weapons programme.
Although I do think Iran is secretly trying to get nuclear weapons, their stance is that we deserve nuclear energy. As much you try to seperate Iran from Israel, there is a reason whenever Iran or Israel comes up the other comes up as well. Israel has 400 nuclear weapons that everyone knows about but they said they don't have it. Who says anything about that? NOONE. America and Jewish finances control the world. That is the problem. That is why you are seeing a stubborn response from Iran.
