Nice lighting, but if you don't mind me saying, your camera composition framing needs some work! If you are tutoring others you are setting a bad example. Always frame left to right from left of center and right to left from right of center. Especially with an obvious photo frame or point of interest above, her right shoulder. Regards.
I am doing this next week. Trying to do it with as little equipment as possible. I too use the CLS but find the preflash sometimes causes blinking from the subject. Looks like you used a sync cord instead?
Quick question, are you using Nikon's Camera Control Pro 2.3 on your laptop? If so have you had any write/cache issues using it with your D700 as mine is having some when hooked up to my Acer One.
I could have easily used a soft box, however the strobe was working double duty. Not only was light passing through the panel, light from the strobe was adding just a bit of light to the background. A full diagram of the set up is at my blog.
I have plans on a Small Strobes, Big Results workshop in Texas later this year. DT
Good video - I'm curious, however, as to why you wouldn't utilize a softbox in this situation (preferably one made for speedlights)? It seems it'd be easier to set up and just as adaptable/portable.
I wish I could make your workshop! Come on down to Texas again sometime. :-)

Its good to see how you lay out a shot, instead of just telling how a shot is done.
Thanks

Ah. Now talk about adaptability... ;-) Great example of a 1-light show!
I can't wait for the Texas Workshop! Will you post it on your blog? Is there an e-mail update system in place?

I bought Nikon Capture Pro 2. It works well with lightroom. I ask lightroom to monitor a particular folder and it up dates it self. DT

uuhh... tight room to work with. You should get a D3, that would allow to get in more with 50mm.
