  • My concern would be that you need to press your hand on the device to abseil. After abseiling 3 or 4 rope lengths my device is normally to hot to touch.

  • Can it be used in alpine climbs such as ice and snow safely?

  • Abseil without any Prusik? so wrong....

  • @miticogaggy what wrong is there? it really depends on the conditions. however, abseiling without gloves is definitely a bad thing.

  • @beholderlt what is wrong? ...never abseil without any prusik... Always have a second security in case one fails... =)

Anyway I tried it and I think it is not so practical. I would prefer The Mammut Smart Alpine. more fluid and less complicated

  • @miticogaggy abseiling without a prusik is just fine where you don't have loose rock (safe crags and so on, would not recommend that in places you're not familiar with. however, I personally strongly advise using some sort of gloves because the rope can really chafe your hands, especially in longer rappels and if the rope is dirty too.

  • where do i get one in the u.s.a.????

seems like no-one sells them here
