@Jdtoolbox Dad moved out to another cage while mom was busy tending her babies. Reason is, as soon as these babies mature, and the boys become "men", the adult male might see them as a threat to his harem, and will try to chase them away.
With them living in a cage, and no way of escaping, he would have probably killed them.
I kept one of the females from this litter, and she is now living with a unrelated male. Might have babies again sometime soon, so excited. :)
Hey there, i have been researching on dormice ALLOT lattely and i just LOVE them, but the baby door mice did they just come on to your hand because they were curios or was it becase they were tame. And are they hard to care for? also how long do they become in CM?. thanks
@impeenng As soon as the baby had fur and had their eyes open a little, I started to take them out 5 minutes a day to get them used to my hand.
After a while, they started to assosiate my hand (and smell, probably) with safety. That's why they climbed up my hand.
They're not hard to care for, but they need a steady diet of berries, insects and seeds, and various other fruits and veggies. They need lots of space to climb.
Hey there, i have been researching dormice lately and i just LOVE them, but is it hard to take care of them and how big do they get but in cm thankyou :) and the baby dormice did they just come on to your hand because there tame or do they just do that because they are curios, and if they are tame, can they also be like out the cage and it can crule around me or is it just best in the hands? :) i saw 4 pairs of dormice in a reptile shop and they were 70 each, are they like actullt that worth it
Yeah, their diet consists various fruits, berries, nuts, seeds, nectar and insects. I give them a bowl of mealworms (the "maggots) a few times a week, plus about 2-3 crickets each about every other day.
I give gravid (pregnant) females and moms that just gave birth extra mealworms and crickets for the protein and fat they need because of the birth.
where is dad?
