Definitely better than Beijing's. China's had way more money and resources but nowhere near the same art direction and beauty as Athens'. There was a few take your breath away moments in Beijing (the drummers), but most of it was way too over the top with no real art, passion or taste. It was more of a political show piece for the world. Plus, the official song they did was ridiculous and annoying. Athens had a real artist sing (Bjork). And I'm not a drop of Greek.

@TheRiddler215, I would never compare two opening ceremonies because there's nothing to compare. With opening ceremonies, it's all about finding what's special about each one individually. Athens and Beijing both captivated us in their own unique ways, and both should be equally commended.

If you think Beijing's lacked art, you might want to look deeper. The devotion to ancient Chinese art is spread throughout the entire ceremony.

this ceremony cannot be compared to beijing. This is a story of the spirit and passion of life and humanity. It's the representation of a country that never got credit for setting building blocks of every aspect of life as we know it. Beijings opening was very beautiful indeed, but it did not have the spirit, the soul, the raw passion that this ceremony had, nor do i believe that any olympic opening ever will. After all, the games had returned home.
