Has anyone tried these at different tunings? I played a set and they sounded exactly like every meridian maple drum video on YouTube. Tight snare, higher pitched toms, low boomy bass, but that's it. Anyone have any experience with these with different heads? I'm looking for an all maple kit but I'm just not sure about these.
love this video since its the REAL drum sound without all those effects some places use to make a crappy set thats untuned sound good.. hell they can make a cb kit sound good
Im gonna be honest with you easymusiccenter. Im not ordering it from ur store because i live no where near you, I live in north carolina, but i was wondering if you would actually reccomend them, and are there any drawbacks to them please be honest, drummer to drummer.
@yakityshmack just try them out and listen to all you can. everything in the video was honest, and if it sounds good to you, then get them. but i would go into any music store and try things first so you know what sounds good to you.
I've been playing on a CB for 3 years and im ready for a new kit, and I REALLY like this kit, but i have no clue where to get it! where is it sold in Ontario? preferably some where around Toronto.
@RealityBreakband HA! nice I am playing on a CB now too and I sort of hate it. its something to hit though. I was considering buying the tama superstar sk hyperdrive kit till I saw this one. I would most likely get a 6 pc though and just the shell pack. Anyway its cool that your in the same situation as me. Does the maple sound any better than birch? i can't really tell.
@PointlesInsanity ya i just got a pearl 5 piece not too long ago, i gave up on trying to find a mapex . no matter what its an improvment on CB though!
I own a Sonor SQ2 topline kit costing thousands and as a practice kit I picked up one of these Mapex Meridian Maple kits. It's simply the best all maple kit for that price you can buy. I love it.
It might be the tuning, but I dont like that snare and the smaller tom-tom could've sound better. Still I really think my next kit will be a meridian.
Birch sounds awful to me. In the whole Mapex range the maple sounds the best. All the drum companies are cutting down but Mapex has the most. My opinion
Hi. I'm currently using the Canon HF10 camera. The current model is the HF11 (bigger internal hard drive). I'd like to upgrade to the new HFS11 though!
I love my Mapex drums !! have been playing them for 5 years now. Swapped out the heads for Remo pinstripes and they sound Awesome !!

@maryted
Do a search on "Rashid Williams -- Mapex Meridian Maple". He's playing with Evans clear heads and a coated snare head.

The blue set it the back looks exactly like my mapex saturn. Except i got two virgin bass drums. and four toms on its mounts.

im really confused here,should i buy the birch or the maple?which one is better?
lalali2323 2 years ago
@lalali2323 it's all about tone. birch has a bit more attack while the maple is a bit deeper sounding. they both sound great!
