He's gorgeous! =] Mine just made a bubble nest. I'm excited because today is Harry Potter's birthday, so if I were to breed them, I would definitely name all the fry after the characters =] Unfortunately, I don't have the room to breed bettas. But it's still exciting!

How do you know if your fish is male or female?

@UltimaPenalty Depends on the type of betta. Female bettas have short tail. Over halfmoon, halfmoon, veil, crowntail, or DT males have long tails but plakat males have short tails.

I just got a blue male betta and he's already started working on his bubble nest. It looks fairly small though and I'm sad that he won't be able to make it any bigger because of the small vase he's kept in.

I as well cannot find him a female anywhere in my city.

oh and to promote healthy spawning, buy some bloodworms and white mosquito larvea (frozen) bloodworms are red mosquito larvea. fee those 2 to them in mixed diet 2x/wk and will promote spawning

oh, and never mix any kind of tetra with a betta, tetras are natural food for bettas
