  • Kids don't try that at home, the bird could get crushed. Don't sleep with your birds! or put them in your bed at night, you fall a sleep and roll over on them.

  • @TheSongsSmile - True.

This was with me sitting on a couch. Not lying down. Plus I wasn't really asleep. I shot the video.

  • Unfortunately Dozer passed away in the hospital in April...it was cloacal cancer that had spread to his lungs, etc....There was nothing I could do to save him....his body just shut down on it's own and he went to sleep forever. It was a devastating loss and I miss him so much. I wish we had longer together:(

  • @cockatoomom - So sorry!

You still have so much love to give a wonderful little creature. Think about adopting another bird someone couldn't keep. Here's a source:

They are wonderful... and just going to the meetings is fun.

  • im sorry i had a dear person die too my mother ;( im so sorry i wish i could help but i cant... im so sorry WHY GOD WHY!!!!!!!!!????????

  • @cheyleew - So sorry for your loss.

I remember what a friend said about my departed bird: "Now he's with the only Master who could love him more than you did." The same is true of your dear mom.

    God loves all his creatures.

  • Lovely bird... R.I.P. please, I like the music, it is from?

  • @WhiteZonda - Thanks - I still love her so!

The music was from YouTube's library. They show the artist and tune's title right under the still photo of Penny & me. "Stephen Rhodes - 'Crystal Blossom.'"

  • i am from peru, i am very fond of these kind of birds, i had 3 in the past (now i am 30 years, that was when i was 15 till 25). One of these was my favorite, Teiglin was his name, i loved him a lot, we shared 10 years together, were the best years of my life, cause i was with my family in peru, now i am not longer there.

I am in spain now, and though life quality is better here, i miss my parents, but i also miss a lot having these pets. Teiglin used to do the same on my shoulder...

  • @Sumiux - Many people don't realize how much love a little bird can give.

Get another bird some time - it will need your love, too.

  • im soo sorry :( i hope penny rests in peace mabey she is a human now people sometimes get reborn rip penny :(

  • @cheyleew - Yes, I still think about her. She was so loving and cute.

Don't know that animals become humans, but only God knows!

  • THAT IS THE MOST ADORABLE THING IN THE WORLD!

  • OH I am in tears watching and reading this...what a precious girl. I have a 20 year old grey cheek Dozer....he is amazing and so bonded with me...sitting with me actually right on my chest now as I type. He has developed a growth on his left cheek/ neck that is dangerous to operate on...I keep praying it does not cause him problems...I can't imagine my life with out him. THanks for sharing your video.

  • @cockatoomom - I hope Dozer is still well and happy. Cool name, by the way!

As long as they are active, happy and not in pain, birds can tolerate a lot.

You should post a video of Dozer so all can share in your fun with him.

  • This brings back memories of me and my baby. My budgie used to nap with me on my shoulder sometimes. I'm happy you and Penny met and that you adopted her, just as I met my Birdy. My bird had also died but from old age. Seeing this makes me feel a bit sad, but I'm glad we met our best friends and brought happiness into their short lives.

  • @PseudoChat - Yeah. I still miss her sometimes, though my two new guys are a handful.

Did you see her earlier video - Penny Returns to her House?

    Thanks for sharing your memories.

  • Aw this video is so cute you might remember my username from jakes final bow comments I'm very sorry for your bird passing away I can tell you took good care of Jake because he was 22 years

  • @The3jkids - Yes. Thanks!

  • beautiful bird, beautiful bond, and never ending friendship, full of memories, RIP to her, you blessed her life with the chances you gave her dont ever forget that

  • @Melissa74311 - Thanks for your kind thoughts.

  • not many people get to know love from and to their bird like this. my cockatiel dave does the same thing :]

  • @BlackRose13579 True! It's so soothing. Penny was a real blessing (RIP).

You might like the other bird vids on my channel.

  • oh wow.... i can't believe how choked up i feel over a bird and a person ive never known. I can feel the love you had for your bird in your words. how inspiring

  • @thatonlychick1 Thanks for your feelings. I still get sad when I see any of her videos. I only had her for her last 6 1/2 years, but I saw her grow out of her fears into a loving and trusting little gal. RIP Penny - may we meet again!

  • Is that Art Bell.

Where is Hell's Hole Art ?

  • I just love your video of you and your beloved Penny. It brought tears to my eyes. You are a kind soul to of given her a loving home and happy and safe life. This is a favorite video of mine. Friday April 2, 2010 was a year ago that this video was taken. I remembered Penny and said a prayer for her. She's in Rainbow Heaven with my Tasha-girl (Budgie).

  • @lynz45 - Thanks... maybe we'll all meet some day.

  • oh damn mate, i am a almost a 36 year old man and after reading your story of Penny in the side bar it put a tear in my eye.

You are a good man, and Penny was a great little soul.

  • Thank you!

    I visited her grave yesterday.

  • What a fantastic video and the music is brilliant! :)

  • nothing better than snuggle-butt birdies:)

  • aww that is so sad :(

  • I jist LOVE "Penny Naps With Me." My beloved Grey Cheek, Buster, used to lay on his side, cuddled under my chin or neck, and nap with me, too. It was one of my greatest pleasures. I loved him more than words could ever describe. Buster died nearly two years ago. I now have a Canary Winged Parakeet named Lucy. I love her too, but she's not nearly as affectionate as Buster. Brotogeris are mt favorites, nonetheless! Thanks for sharing.

  • @Mardee1212 Hi Mardee! Thanks for your kind words. I still miss Penny and sometimes talk with her. I loved jake and Wiley, too, but Penny had been so abused before I got her, her love meant a lot to me.

I now have Jasper, a Pineapple Green Cheeked Conure, and Charlie, whom someone donated to me after Penny died.

Charlie is a White-Winged 'keet... almost the same as a Grey Cheek, but milder mannered. He likes to nibble flower petals for hours!

I love Brotos, and now Conures, too!

  • SO VERY SWEET! SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS!

    Linda

  • Aww that is adorable! Normally a bird sleeping with you would like explore around get off, but she is so obedient. You must've trained her a lot since Penny was so timid

  • Not really training - except maybe her training ME!

I just was alert to her needs and fears. I treated her with love and respect and she grew to trust me and enjoy my company.

She died last August - peacefully. I still miss her, though I adopted another bird and bought a pal for him.

    But that's another story!

  • It's really sad that Penny is sick. But I'm glad, that the beautiful little bird finally found the loving home she so well deserved! It was a very touching little film.

  • it is really cute i also have 4 grey cheeks and a pihuicho^.^ they are super cute!!!

  • Kutwrite, thanks so much for sharing your video.

Penny is beautiful, I am so sorry to hear about her liver tumor. That is one of the things Merry had too. It's so sad to watch them suffer with it.

I still miss him to this day. I know that you will take good care of Penny and that she will spend her days being loved. I wish you both well.

  • i had a bird like this one. im having a hard time finding them

  • Yes, they are becoming scarce.

The politicial tree-huggers got the pet trade banned. Now such birds are killed en-masse in their native countries as pests.

    Sad.

  • @KutWrite Isn't it terrible...and then they dont' breed well in captivity, so they are sooo scarce. I would take in another in a heartbeat. I tear up thinking of losing my Dozer someday. I wonder what the oldest grey cheek in captivity is?
