  • she lived in nyack ny not new jersey

  • I loved her in Airport 1970. What a performance that was.

  • It's not often that the women on the panel stand up for a mystery guest, but they did for Helen Hayes. That says something about the regard they had for her.

  • Her husband, Charles McArthur, was a playwright - "The Front Page" is his best know work. Their son played Danno on 'Hawaii Five-0".

  • Although her primary metier was the Boradway stage, Helen Hayes was one of the great actresses and class acts of ALL media. She could even invest dreck like "Herbie Rides Again" with her customary touch of class.

And for all thist, she will always be remembered.

  • Hayes would like Abigail Adams. She is, after all, from Quincy, whic,h if I am not mistaken, ABigail was affiliated with (not sure if she ever lived there, but I am quite sure her son did)

  • The Empress of Broadway. Adored her.

  • Amazing actress! I think her last performance was in "Airport" to win the best supporting actress award.

  • @franklindavid no, she acted for several years after that. She did a couple disney films. One a Love Bug and also Candleshoe with Jodie Foster. Also, I think she did a brief television series called The Snoop Sisters.

  • "Well, it's forgotten by now"

    NEVER forgotten...

LOVED her in "A Farewell to Arms"!

  • The Snoop Sisters it was, with Mildred Natwick.

  • What a lady...that's all.

  • Gil Fates used to go on and on about the talent of syndicated WML moderator Larry Blyden as an interviewer. Notice how subtly John Daly gets that fascinating and educational conversation out of Miss Helen Hayes.

Few actresses got more famous and better with age -- but Helen Hayes managed with kudos to spare. I really liked that sleuth TV series she did in the 1970s.

  • I believe that would've been The Snoop Sisters.

  • @soulierinvestments I firmly believe that no one could host this show with the same skill and elan as John Charles Daly..

  • @HowardOfOz3565 Agreed. Yet he sometimes couldn't count. (Despite the "No" she gave, he never flipped a card.)
