What I love about this is that Bette Davis didn't seem to mind looking truly flaky, bitter, and twisted- in a really harsh and unappealing way. I can't imagine many actresses today really casting their egos aside and going for it-- everyone is so obsessed with looking young and surgically altered. This is so refreshing. She's just a master actress and I love her in this movie..
@pookoos nah, not really. u got plenty of hollywood actresses of today who "get ugly" for the right role. you got nicole kidman in "the hours," cameron diaz in "being john malkovich," charlize theron in "monster," and that one chick from "ugly betty."
That was a good imitation Jane did of Blanch "oh really did she like it" Also ive heard that betty enjoy'ed being mean to joan because they hated each other in real life.
Two of the very BEST products of the old Hollywood Star System and they were then and always will be AMAZING -- joan Crawford and Bette Davis! Talented, amazing, brilliant.
I read an interview with Bette Davis once in which she said not only did she do her own makeup for this movie, she would apply fresh makeup over old because she thought that was how Baby Jane would do it. She also found the wig in the old Warner Brothers wardrobe area - and it was an old one she had worn about 30 years before. It was moth-eaten and everything. Bette wanted to capture just how insane, gruesome, pathetic and, ultimately, sad Baby Jane Hudson really was. She succeeded! LOL!
I'm a massive masochist, so I'd give ANYTHING to have old Baby Jane Hudson just abuse the shit outta me. I'd be so submissive, she'd totally get off on it.
Davis did her own makeup on this one and it was just as well because one artist told her if he did what she wanted him to do he was afraid he'd never work again.
this movie is on the list of things to take out of the house if there is a fire. I watch this movie several times a year and know the entire script. love it love it love it
Oh realy did she like it? . . . .ha, i watch this all the time. I know someone just like her. its kinda creepy. AND SHES CALLED JANE . . . DUN dun duuuuuuun
One of the best films ever made. Keeps you on the endge of your seat all the time. There are some very sick twisted characters in this film. Marvellous viewing! Classic!!
Where is the RATS IN THE CELLAR scene? How can you not upload it? That is a real classic. C'mon whoever you are. Upload it and send me a comment. Promise to leave a good comment, favourite it and give an automatic awsome rating. C'mon Bette Davis and Joan Crawford want you to because they live on when people see them at their best.
hahahaah. Oh man was that so funny. Its the one scene that makes me roar with laughter. The way she walks away and gives that side glance and then waits for the reaction then finally breaking down with laughter when she gets it. That scene is pure gold.
Yeah it was. Only seen it maybe twice The first time seeing it I was hooked. The second time I saw it with a friend and we rolled around laughing. What a great movie.

Two great actresses go at it and the winner is Betty Davis

They did a 're-make' of this, starring the Redgrave Sisters.
Those of you who remember it, raise your hand.

Bette has been knwon for taking roles that don't show her beauty, but most importantly...her talent.

it wasn´t Bette Davies´wig. it was Joan Crawfords!!!

The wig was actually one that Joan had worn years before. Bette never knew that! I heard that in a documentary on the film.
