  • Would have been better if the USA and the UK would be in unison with Germany against the communists. World would not haves the Cold War and the threat of nuclear war.

Communist Russia was the greatest enemy of mankind rather than Germany!

  • Always a joy to see such excellent troops such as the Grossdeutschland in action, all types of footage be it. It is a shame though that such plea's or appeals were ignored by the incompetence of the OKH for replacements, rest and maintainence etc, as was plea's also for the XXIV Panzer Corps, above all, ALL of Army Group Center and what have you, rest was dearly needed from nearly 5 months of continuous fighting . High command just got sick on victory, nonsensical orders in -68 degrees.

  • fuck Grossdeutschland

  • @kaitracid75 faggot

  • @kaitracid75 fuck you. It's better.

  • @Ubaldo421 > Va te faire mettre profond parasite du système

  • GD was annihilated only because the Soviets were 10 to 1

  • These poor bastards in their summer uniforms.

  • @gnarbotz what and leave 500,000 soviets on thier flank , germany didn't have the man power to conquer russia, thats why germans chose to fight battles of irrtrition, stalingrad, lenningrad, kursk, the main stratgic goal was to eliminate as much of russias army as possible

  • A comment from a returned veteran from Russia: "For every shot we (G.D. Pz.Div.)made, the Soviets made ten..." . More comments are superfluos: the truth is just known from very few people.

  • Summer uniforms and the cold winter closing in. Ninety percent of the men in this picture never made it home. What a waste of fine infantry.

  • I'd like to hear comments from a veteran of combat on either side of the Eastern Front, there must be a few of them still alive today.

  • @MultiScrapiron I have found a few....just search around on google or something like it.Oh and please come see my channel I have lots about German WW2 and Grossdeutschland!!!

  • RIP

  • Great G.D. Pz.Div. in Russia ! Wehrmacht lost because it was 1 against 10... ;-)

  • the naked truth about what actually happened is burried under a mountain of propaganda ,and wil only surface after those who bennefit from that propaganda have been rendered powerles, wich wil take some more generations

  • Die russischen Strassen waren immer feindlich zur deutschen Armee.

  • we fought the wrong people, we should of fought the reds and saved 100 million lives.

  • CCCP should have destroyed USA in 1988

  • Big misstakle on attacking CCCP .... Anglo Saxon scum know this and they are going around it ...

It will be last thing to attack ...

Anglo Saxon scum is in Central Asia ...

IF Russian Federtion does not wake up it will be too late ..

CCCP should have attacked USA in 1988 ...

  • @aviomaster USA should have attacked CCCP in 45'.

  • - Germans were true warriors at least ,

Not like anglo saxon scum , which are gripping the world OIL resources for themselves ... and bombing and conqering one country at a time ...

  • @aviomaster @aviomaster Angles originally came from Germany, Saxons originally came from Germany. Both were Germanic tribes. Open a history book.

  • Die armmen MINen Sucher die waren alle straf fersetzt

  • That year, winter came very early than what was expected. That's why, they didn't prepare the winter clothes. Read, then you can talk. And Russia was going to attack Germany, before Germany attacks Russia, that's a fact. That's why they had 350 divisions ready for combat. Why where they ready to war?: History

  • @kekuu7: You're right. Nobody mentions that the Bolsheviks were poised to launch their own Barbarossa once they got their house in order militarily. Attacking actual placed the Germans at a distinct disadvantage. Traditionally, defenders suffer less casualties than their enemy, because the army on the offense has to fight for every inch of ground they gain.

  • @MicheasTheMighty "Traditionally, defenders suffer less casualties than their enemy" that hasn't been the case since the middle ages. The Germans while on the offensive suffered relatively few casualties compared to the Soviets who were defending. In modern warfare attack is always the best defence, the attacking force almost always has the upper hand.

  • From 1.01 to 2.00 men of Grossdeutschland regiment have not winter clothes despite the snow of the landscpe... This tells a lot about the incompetence of nazi leaders blinded by their thirst of blood. They were the evil on earth. And they have been beaten, smashed as bugs in all fronts, as they deserved.

  • The German army was a step to conquer Moscow.

  • @Aexsaergkatae so was Napoleon.

  • this is why the germans nick all the sunbeds in the spanish holiday resorts, they remember the cold on the easternfront.

  • so many fatal errors.....

they should stabilized the front in smolensk and wait the winter there. and in 1942 at the caucasus they fought for a useless city (totally destroyed) only cause the name of the city (stalingrad)...they should take the oil of maikop and bakú with the south armies...not a ruined city. the germans were elite soldiers...but they didn´t have a strategic leader

  • @lalomir2000 Operation Barbarossa was all wrong. Germany should have fortified Poland and other eastern satellites against Bolshevik aggression instead of outright invading a nation that spans damn well near 1/5 of the world. Logistically, even if you had the best fighting men in the world, it is an impossible nightmare scenario. Germany would never of had to endure occupation by the Eurasians if they created adequate buffers in the East and not flung their armed forces into a meat-grinder.

  • totally agree with the idea of buffers zones against the soviet bear, making real festungs in that area, with belarus and ukraine as first buffers. The grain fields secured, and may be having as a main objetive one last heavy offensive to take the oil of the caucaus, not an utopic line from Astrakan-Arkangel.

  • it's not true, that germany fought for stalingrad only for the sake of demoralization because of the name of the city. Controlling Stalingrad means controlling the wolga.

  • @Todesschwadron55 Precisely. Hitler was a control freak and an ideologue, but he was not a fool.

  • @lalomir2000 You're wrong about Stalingrad being a worthless city. In a literal sense yes, but if the Germans took over this last defensible point before the oil fields beyond, it could have strangled the Soviets and create a lot of trouble for the Red Army. I agree it was a waste of life though, throwing Germans into that hell hole, makes you wonder why they just couldn't have surrounded it, make it a pocket of resistance, and then go around it...

  • @lalomir2000 :D the germans have very much stratic leader but the Führer was for against.. hitler comes from austria hehe

    sry for my english

  • @lalomir2000 right. The best soldier have no chance with a bad Leader.

  • @lalomir2000 Attempt to occupy Russia was the only one fatal error. No one could do this and no one will, because Russia is like Sparta but bigger and more foolhardy.

  • @lalomir2000 it all failed because hitler became the leader. until then things went good...

  • @lalomir2000 Ignorant child.Thats what most of nazis are

  • @lalomir2000 easy to talk about 65 years later

  • @lalomir2000 and all those mistakes happened when Hitler took control of the army. If he had some intelligence we would be speaking german

  • @lalomir2000 Not just true.It was a totaly Hitler's great mistake.

  • @Ubaldo421 You are totally right. The reason why Germany lost the war was because of Hitlers stupid military decisions. Guderian for example urged Hitler to take Moscow quickly in 1941 but Hitler delayed the advance and split the German forces. As a result the Russian Winter set in and the Germans got bogged down while the Russians regrouped. Then you had Stalingrad where the Germans could have retreated and saved many men but Hitler said no. Hitler lost the war for the German army.

  • @Stevethesearcher Thank you my friend. Hitler has been really an irresponsible man. The first heavy, very heavy mistake he did in Dunquerke (France) may 1940. He never heard his generals advices. That's the truth.

  • @Ubaldo421 Hitler let the British escape at Dunkirk. He wanted to go easy on them as he thought he could make a deal with them. Hitler was actually a fan of the British. He wanted them to keep their empire if they let him control Europe. That really was a stupid mistake because the British would never agree to that. He should have finished them off when he had the chance. Letting them escape was stupid. However it was the mistakes in Russia that finished the Germans.

  • @lalomir2000 Hitler was a girl. He wanted Stalin's red shoes.....

  • @lalomir2000 Emphasis on no strategic leader lol. The Russians were kinda horribly desperate too. Lake Ladoga in 1943. 270,000 men, 843 tanks and probably as many anti-tank guns and field positions, 693 aircraft, and every last bit of supplies given to those forces all for just 4km of ground and a power station. I also remember reading about the 5. Gebirgsjagers Division and another division holding out against 11 soviet guards battalions.

  • Even if I say: war is the worst thing and there is no glory in it at all. I must say: You have no knowledge about history in Europe at all! Sorry.

  • Notice the lack of adequte winter coats-just the standard issue great coat-which wasn't warm enough. The Landser were just supposed to "tough it out". Hitler thought hte Ruskies should've capitulated b4 Dec-but he was Wrong!Stalin's ruthless purges years earlier of his officer corps actually saved his arse by removing all effective opposition to his power. They were panicking in Mokau at this time-and if these had been still alive-an attempted coup might have been attempted.

  • long live grossdeutschland division!!!

  • tactics, that's what counts. U.S. military copied German WW2 tactics because of their effectiveness, yes even with bolt action rifles. Fact is the Germans were better soldiers than Americans. Good thing for the worldGermany lost!!

  • I agree with you that the Wehrmacht and Waffen SS were far better soldiers than the american soldiers, but it's definetely not a good thing Germany lost the war. Fyi, Hitler had no intentions of attacking the u.s

  • And yet still the American military beat the Wehrmacht and SS in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France and Germany. Guess you're wrong again.

  • you stupid, worthless pile of fucking shit....that's because Hitler made extremely stupid military decisions and the whole entire German armed forces were outnumbered on all fronts. hey, can you do me a favour? before you answer back can you get your dad's fucking dick out of your ass? you're the fucking jizz your mom should've swallowed, you're pathetic

  • Boy, for a Nazi you're awfully sensitive! And wrong, of course. American units that were combat-seasoned were the equivalent of any German unit. US soldiers were outnumbered at Bastogne and they kicked ass, and kept kicking ass till your hero Hitler killed himself and the missus. He was gay, so I don't know why he got married... . You're probably gay--lots of very sensitive men are. Anyway, if the Germans were such great soldiers, why did they let Hitler beat them?

  • in the eastern front counts the soviet manpower... the 40 siberian divisions (thanks to the aborted attack of siberia from japan) make the unstoppable winter counter-offensive of the russians

  • @ottodasgrunt Who exactly did the "better" German soldiers defeat? France? Czechoslovakia?

Against the English, they lost. Against the Russians, they lost. Against America, they lost.

    How are they better?

  • @osalcido85 Because they lost only when outnumbered and outgunned. You note that they lost agaisnt the combined forces of US, British empire and USSR. With had several times more soldiers than Germany had.

When they weren't outgunned and outnumbered, they won spectacular victories.

  • @Guaporense1 Sorry but they lost tactically at Stalingrad to Russians. They were evenly matched. Same story in Egypt against the British

  • @osalcido85 No man, since the war started the Germans were always outnumbered but they compensate that with better trainning and skills and the Germans were not defeated by England or the US or Russia they were defeated by all the traitors in Hitler's staff who were given intel to Russia and the allies.

  • @salinas1979 wrong, the only thing that beat germany was your own crazy leader, adolf. he had the best generals, soldiers, tanks, you name it the germans were the best at it. if he'd have listened to his generals and let them do the fighting, the whole outcome of ww2 may well have been very different. also, to fight a war of this scale on so many fronts was a huge mistake, a logistical nightmare. the fact germany lasted so long to the end is testament to the bravery of germany in itself.

  • @tubbymarshall You're wrong I doubt that a crazy person achive all that Hitler did.

  • @osalcido85 Well, both in Stalingrad and in El Alamein they were outnumbered 2-3 to 1. So your example is not valid. In 1944-45 they became even more outnumbered, by 1945 they were fighting outnumbered 7-8 to 1 in some battles.

Want a battle were the germans weren't greatly outnumbered? France 1940 (they were slighly outnumbered, 4/3 to 1 in that battle). What happened? They won an spetacular victory.

  • @ottodasgrunt yeah the germans are much better, even though i live in america i am mostly german and i would die under the iron cross

  • @ottodasgrunt

Germany had no designs on the US

  • @ottodasgrunt

If the Wehrmacht was so great how come they let Gen. McAuliffe rub their collective noses in it at Bastogne...? Nuts!

  • It's the man behind the firearm that counts.

  • Hard to believe that the German Army with all of the Teutonic power of inventiveness went into battle in Russia with a BOLT ACTON RIFLE??? Yes they had the MG 42 and the MP38 but too many had the old WW1 bolt action Mauser. The Americans had the semi-automatic M-1, the BAR, and the Thomson Sub Machine gut which was just as good if not better than the German small arms.

  • well M-1 was in wide use only in late 1942 and 1943,issued to most of riflemen units...in same time germans had g-41,g-43 and MP-43 (later Stg44) and americans as well had the bolt action rifles...Then BAR ang Thomson were post ww I desings, and the funcion of LMG in German Army was done by mg27t and hand held version of MG34 and 42

  • From what I understand the MP-43/Stg44 were not issued to front line troops till late in the war. Still I was led to believe most Germans troups still carried the K-98 bolt action rifle in to battle. It is all interesting though,

  • well from middle 1943 onwards....but yes, even late in the war Germans issued K-98 to front line troops (bu also look that K-98 Kurz was 1936 design, much improved) but it fitted perfectly with Wehrmacht needs and tactics of suppressing MG and flanking riflemen...by the way check the the Mosin-Nagant and Lee-Enfield rifles and look when they entered in use ;)

  • Yes the mosin-nagant was the one used in Enemy at the Gates. As a sniper weapon it looked to be lethal. Yes you have a point....he MN was issued under the Czar in 1890s. My all idea is that the Germans could have done better seeing that they were rearming while the Allies were snoozing.

  • The rate of fire isn't the important factor. The Mauser 98 action is the best bolt-action system ever made, it is still in regular use in hunting, target, and sniper rifles. With an m1 you cant plug away at full speed if you want an accurate spread. A well trained soldier can get off 2 accurate shots per second with a good bolt action such as an Enfield or a Kar98k. Don't forget that the US only fought germany in the last 2 years of the war. It was also more suited for sniping needs than the m1

  • the ka\r98 is one if not the finest bolt action gun to be roduced. Its based on the masuer from pre ww1 days like the MN. It did not break and was an extremely accurate powerful gun. Many soldiers would much rather a rifle that worked than the semi-auto g41s and the improved g43 for accuracy and stopping power + range. Thompson was expensive and heavy, bar had 20 rd mag. mp40 is more or less equal to thompson more accurate better range just less power.

  • Note the poor winter-equipment that made the german soldiers suffer badly that winter.

  • Did you read the part on the retreat where some of guy sager friends were caght eating food and were hung from trees with cards around there necks saying traitors to the mother land, they were treated like shit by their oficers

  • I read the book and i came to the concluson there is absolutly no glory in war, what an amazing book well worth the read times over, fecking awsome.

  • best that germany had to offer in ww2. way more professional then ss units and better equiped. it was greater germany division that received the best and received it first.

  • One best divisions of Military History! And one best divisions of Germany!
