@ccharizardd77 Well, if you want to know the truth, I had a CD called "Wii Freeloader" that allows you to play import games on the Wii version 4.1 or lower, I believe. I'm not able to play it anymore, sadly, because the updated Wii version prevents Wii Freeloader from working on my Wii. In a way, though, I guess it was for the best because the Wii isn't supposed to support games from different regions anyway.
The Japanese announcer is REALLY enthusiastic! The english one sounds more realistic as a presenter, but the Japanese guy is really cool, even if he does sound like a fan rather than a presenter.
I prefer the Japanese Announcer to the English Announcer despite not understanding a word of Japanese. He sounds more enthusiastic, and it's not as if the announcers ever say anything useful in the first place.
Arcanine, or "Windie" as the annoucer called him, did very well. I love seeing Arcanine putting those great stats to good use. It has 100 Base Special Attack, after all.
Just realized that Foresight-top can run Return and CC for perfect coverage... speaking of which you should probably run mach punch over sucker punch. I'm honestly not very sure in the use of Fake Out on Hitmontop though (that was Fake out right?).
The Japanese version it's faster, not only in connection but the test (which makes things boring because it's slow as hell in the american version) it's very fast, in few words Japanese version runs smoothly.
I say you stick to the japanese version if you don't mind the japanese text.
I don't mind the Japanese text at all. I guess I'll upload a Japanese PBR battle every so often. The majority, however, will be from the Amercian version.
Wow, I like the Japanese version of PBR. I'd like to see some more from you. And maybe you could put annonations on the moves, when you chose them. Just an idea.
I am new to your videos and I think they are awesome but knowing myself I can't help but to tell you too.. like I did with much more PBR battlers that this kind of videos look better in wide screen..
here is the code to make them wide screen here on youtube: yt:stretch=16:9
I must say that the Japanese Version seems a lot brighter then the American one, from what i've seen from YT videos anyway since i dont have a Wii. The announcer is a lot more excited about announcing the moves.
Why, thank you, Raichu. I can read a smidgen of the text. I use to attempt to teach myself Japanese. That was back then when I had more free time though.
Some catchphrases of the announcer in Japanese are much better than the English one. When a pokemon is KO'd by Draco Meteor in the Japanese version, it's just pure win. This is why I actually prefer the Japanese annuncer. Still the English one is decent, but he has less emotions when specific situations happened.
If someone ever heard the Germany's announcer, he just sucks.
I've never seen someone using Foresight in PBR. It was a good try. :)
The differences between our version and theirs is quite a bit (some models, item "icons", that awesome announcer), at least in retrospective..
I would rather play THIS version to be honest, I can read the names of the moves and slightly understand the announcer (he talks too fast for my brain haha). I can still play normally..
I would finally use my 'name' which would be "ハルナ" ... at least on that game.
4:12 was NOT Mind Reader (こころのめ), but rather Foresight (みやぶる).
It's easy to notice some of the "flaws" of the Japanese version of the game. Most noticeably the old sprites still in the game from Pokemon Stadium; If you stop the video at 2:46 you'll see another little glitch; and the considerable lag in-between the move selection screens, compared to the US version. However, it's only really noticeable when you fight the Japanese. Nevertheless, I'd prefer the Jap. Version =P
whoah! what was the move you used at 4:12!!!! ive never seen that before! O.o was it detect??? coz the oponent missed....anyway....the japanes version kinda freaked me out...i couldnt tell what was happeneing very well....but it was kinda fun guessing :D good battle....to bad you lost but that arcanine did have a very odd moveset...ooh and one more thing....by "trick" did you mean bribe???lol jk
Ah yes, I love how they kept the old Stadium Arcanine sprite, although I can't say the same for Zapdos and Articuno because, eh, their Stadium sprites don't go well with PBR itself.
I just thought I'd upload one video about this. I just discovered how I can use the Japanese copy of PBR on my Wii, so I just wanted to upload one video of it. This is NOT going to be a regular thing. If no one likes it, I'll delete the video.
It would appear so. There's many more differences between these two versions than I expected, such as Pokémon sprites, hidden hold items, and overall connection speed.
