That was badly worded. I was trying to stay under the limit. I mean if anyone in COS hears you talk the impact of COS brainwashing can be severely challenged. Good work. And thank you.
Love your work. You have the basics Solomon Asch's experiment right, but not exactly. No talk among the confederates and the subject. Just 4 lines, one (b) is clearly shorter, and 7 confederates before the subject all say "d". Then 1/2 subjects will say "d." I think your memory of the experiment became more like your COS experience. The cite: "Opinions and Social Pressure" Asch 1955 Scientific American. It only needs one person right to destroy the effect.
I still have a question: 20 years ago I lived in Eastern Europe; my sister lived here in the USA. I once asked her to bring me some self-help books and she brought for me an Hubbard shit. I opened the book and I read a single paragraph! OMG I said right away: this guy is a psychopath! How come the American people are soooo gullible!???? This (paranoid schizofrenia) is obvious from the first line of the "Dianetics" garbage.
I'm an American and I could also see from the outset that this is a messed up cult. It's not that all Americans are gullible, which is an unfair generalization, it's that desperate people (in other countries as well) are gullible and more susceptible to cults.
People are always gullible they have never been anything other than gullible. If they werent people like John Edwards and Sylvia Browne would have real jobs...it sucks but that is the way it is
The problem with this lady is that despite having been through the brainwashing and apparently having seen through it, she has not given up on religion still. Her head is far from "clear". She's considering ways to "mend" scientology instead of rejecting the whole idea of accepting unverifiable statements as true.
For one, that's religion. You can't make people believe this or that, it's their own choice. Tory and Mark both understand the positive things Scientology is teaching: Bettering oneself and achieving happiness. This is why they want to see change, they want to see it reform into something that can really help people, and not just take their money/families/lives.
True, you can't make people rational, but you can perhaps persuade them. If you wish to make people happier, why do it in the name of any religion? Do people have to lie to themselves about what they don't know in order to become happy?
There is nothing in the core Scientology teachings that can make someone happy in the long run. In the short run, yes, because there is a certain amount of comfort in deluding yourself. But in the long run it comes back to haunt you.
I just listened to the Texas radio show where Tory and Mark fired off questions at Pat, the head of PR for the CO$. Pat really didn't seem to have a clue. If you haven't heard it yet go to Xenutv dot com and watch or listen to all the stuff Mark has on Scientology. Way to go Mark!!!

That's true although even if you're not desperate you can get caught.
The true weapon I think is knowing beforehand what you're getting into. That's what the internet is there for ;)

It's so fucking awesome she made it out of that cult with a clear head, even if it took 30 years like she mentioned earlier..
