Dude, you need to face some fact about the AK-47. The AK has many great attributes but accuracy has never been one of them. The basic loose tolerance that gives the AK-47 its remarkable reliabilty is also what makes it so inaccurate at longer ranges. Only the AK-74 is "accurate enough", and it achieves a better accuacy mainly by shooting a cartridge that has external balistics more in common with the 5.56x45 than the 7.62x39.
B-T-W. The AN-94 is nothing similiar mechanically to the AK-47 and the AN-94 is much accurate than the AK-series of assault rifle largely because it is not similiar in its mechanical design and operation to the AK.
@357223308 the mechanical design has nothing to do with the accuracy. the sig 550 for example is based on the mechanical design of the ak-47 but it is much more accurate. the reason are the tolerances! keep them tight for excellent accuracy or make the parts loose for outstanding reliability. something else makes the ak a little less accurate: it uses a lot more gas for the operating mechanism than necessary. this makes the ak even more reliable but also more inaccurate.

Reliability wise, Russian stuff usually wins, and they seem to like stopping power too, I prefer the AK47's 7.62 over the M16&M4's 5.56. American weapons usually rely more on accuracy and some have a nasty tendency to jam up in extreme conditions, but then again, who gives a shit, all the Call of Duty players (most of the people that probably watch these videos) probably know all these things.

.50 caliber refers to any gun of the 12.7mm class, making that argument null.
M4 is a weapon that every day the user must find time to take apart, clean, and put back together, which, for a good clean (or in other words, a necessary level of cleaning for it to even fire) could take about an hour. Any Russian gun can go weeks even months without any sort of maintenance.
But I know for a fact that if you don't consistently maintain your AR type rifle, you're pretty well fucked. It can be immaculately clean and it'll still jam a hell of a lot more often then the reliable AK series rifles.
From AK-47 through to the AK-108 all AK rifles and AK derivatives have been made far more reliable than any weapon out there.
Also, the AK-47 will NOT explode. I've seen tens of cases where AR type weapons' receivers have blown.
These Russian crap guns do blow up quiet often, look on You Tube AK 47 blows up .

You should look up what E. Stoner himself said about the weapon.
Also please look up how many countries use the AK or other short-stroke piston operated assault rifles, and how many use the M16 and other DI operated rifles. Oh hold on, there are NO OTHER DI operated rifles, everyone goes for short-stroke piston eventhough its more complex. You know why? Because the DI sucks, Stoner himself admitted that he had to use the flawed DI operation to meet weight requirements.
The DI was developed in WW2, right away it was labeled as flawed and inferior. No other weapon since WW2 apart from the M16 has had DI. Mainly due to the reason that because of the way it operates the weapons literary shits in itself. The main flaws of it is gas condensation and overheating, combine that with parts made with nearly 0 tolerance in mind - you get a weapon prone to failure.
The M16 works just fine IF you keep it lubed and cleaned, but ask any soldier is that is possible in combat.
The biggest difference between AK and M16 is in the fact that the M16 was made by a guy who had no clue what war is like and what the soldier and weapon have to endure.
The AK, on the other hand, was made by a guy who directly participated in war and knows all too well what its like.
At the end one gets a weapon that performs great on paper but fails in actual combat, the other ends up with a weapon made for war and fits the bill perfectly.

AK, for the most part, combined what already existed. What was new is that it all was combined in one weapon. Sure it had some adjustments and increased tolerances. Even the all famous, supposedly "space age" M16 didnt actually bring anything new, apart from the use of plastic furniture.
There have been breakthroughs in firearms, but most of them are left in the shadows and never saw action, they begun to surface only recently, like balanced recoil systems.

Best semi-auto 7.62 sniper around. Not because of any particular performance reason, it own just because its Russian, and Russians know how to make weapons that can keep a soldier alive.

PSG-1, FD-200, AWC G2, HK417, M39 EMR, M110 SASS, SR-25, M14 and many others.
All are identical in performance, but as i said id pick the SVD just because its a survivor. I dont have to worry about getting it wet, dusty, muddy etc. I dont even have to clean it if i feel that its not a good time to do it.
I mean if i were alone somewhere (ambush/crash situation) and had to get to my guys on my own, not knowing what shit i will get into nor how long it will take. Id pick a Russian gun 100%.

Id agree with that for LR sniping the 7.62 isnt enough, but its great for up to 600m. IMO thats more than needed unless youre an elite sniper working behind enemy lines taking on an army general or smth.
Bigger rifles come at the cost of weight and ineffectiveness in close combat.
So yeah, if you go for 1000m+ snipe, sure enough you need something big, but for most combat situations the 7.62 is just fine. Decent range, decent power and light weight.

@357223308 the mechanical design has nothing to do with the accuracy. the sig 550 for example is based on the mechanical design of the ak-47 but it is much more accurate. the reason are the tolerances! keep them tight for excellent accuracy or make the parts loose for outstanding reliability. something else makes the ak a little less accurate: it uses a lot more gas for the operating mechanism than necessary. this makes the ak even more reliable but also more inaccurate.

Reliability wise, Russian stuff usually wins, and they seem to like stopping power too, I prefer the AK47's 7.62 over the M16&M4's 5.56. American weapons usually rely more on accuracy and some have a nasty tendency to jam up in extreme conditions, but then again, who gives a shit, all the Call of Duty players (most of the people that probably watch these videos) probably know all these things.

M4 is a weapon that every day the user must find time to take apart, clean, and put back together, which, for a good clean (or in other words, a necessary level of cleaning for it to even fire) could take about an hour. Any Russian gun can go weeks even months without any sort of maintenance.

But I know for a fact that if you don't consistently maintain your AR type rifle, you're pretty well fucked. It can be immaculately clean and it'll still jam a hell of a lot more often then the reliable AK series rifles.
From AK-47 through to the AK-108 all AK rifles and AK derivatives have been made far more reliable than any weapon out there.
Also, the AK-47 will NOT explode. I've seen tens of cases where AR type weapons' receivers have blown.

And cal 303 ammunitions are very common, SVD of afganistan are stolen weapons from old time afgan army and soviet troops, all are from 1970-1980's. These Russian weapons were made for lazy soldiers, and inexperienced conscripts that can learn it very quickly. An American made weapon, requires that the soldier knows all about his weapon so it becomes part of him. Just ask yourself why all the Armies in the world looking for accuracy chose M-16 variants?

The DI was developed in WW2, right away it was labeled as flawed and inferior. No other weapon since WW2 apart from the M16 has had DI. Mainly due to the reason that because of the way it operates the weapons literary shits in itself. The main flaws of it is gas condensation and overheating, combine that with parts made with nearly 0 tolerance in mind - you get a weapon prone to failure.
The M16 works just fine IF you keep it lubed and cleaned, but ask any soldier is that is possible in combat.

The biggest difference between AK and M16 is in the fact that the M16 was made by a guy who had no clue what war is like and what the soldier and weapon have to endure.
The AK, on the other hand, was made by a guy who directly participated in war and knows all too well what its like.
At the end one gets a weapon that performs great on paper but fails in actual combat, the other ends up with a weapon made for war and fits the bill perfectly.

From the technical aspect, there is nothing "new" about it whatsoever. Same goes for many so-called "new" weapons. Same old shit with new furniture.
In fact even the AK-47, when designed, had no technical advances in it, it just combined what already existed for years.
And besides, those were just examples of weapons that fit into the category.

AK, for the most part, combined what already existed. What was new is that it all was combined in one weapon. Sure it had some adjustments and increased tolerances. Even the all famous, supposedly "space age" M16 didnt actually bring anything new, apart from the use of plastic furniture.
There have been breakthroughs in firearms, but most of them are left in the shadows and never saw action, they begun to surface only recently, like balanced recoil systems.

@smyers820gm umm actually ... Google "Avtomat Fedorov" - its the true origin of assault rifles and the grandfather of AKs. The AK has nothing in common internally with the STG. There is a very well known MYTH that they are the same because of the shapes - in fact often people who know their guns will immediatelly realize that you have absolutely no clue what you are talking about when you repeat this myth. Best semi-auto 7.62 sniper around. Not because of any particular performance reason, it own just because its Russian, and Russians know how to make weapons that can keep a soldier alive.
With American guns its the soldier that has to keep the weapon alive, and that sucks.

PSG-1, FD-200, AWC G2, HK417, M39 EMR, M110 SASS, SR-25, M14 and many others.
All are identical in performance, but as i said id pick the SVD just because its a survivor. I dont have to worry about getting it wet, dusty, muddy etc. I dont even have to clean it if i feel that its not a good time to do it.
I mean if i were alone somewhere (ambush/crash situation) and had to get to my guys on my own, not knowing what shit i will get into nor how long it will take. Id pick a Russian gun 100%.

@Buuub08 good 1, i see them as semi auto rifles mostly, fitting a scope to a .8spc chambered m16 wouldnt make it a sniper in my eye, m14 i guess could be called a sniper platform, was a rifle originlly and forgot (never liked) the psg1 and yeah AI do 7.62 chamberings but i still dont like the round, in a semi auto its worth sacraficing power to get more rounds down i suppose, the dragunov to me is an accuracy focus'd ak very simply (like the sr-25 is to the m16) 7.62 for assault, 338+for sniping

Id agree with that for LR sniping the 7.62 isnt enough, but its great for up to 600m. IMO thats more than needed unless youre an elite sniper working behind enemy lines taking on an army general or smth.
Bigger rifles come at the cost of weight and ineffectiveness in close combat.
So yeah, if you go for 1000m+ snipe, sure enough you need something big, but for most combat situations the 7.62 is just fine. Decent range, decent power and light weight.

It IS a 7.62mm rifle and comes with a 20'' barrel for sniper use.
Thus technically a 7.62mm semi-auto sniper rifle.
Its not all that uber new and is used in a number of countres already.

The Barret .50 cal is heavily outperformed by other .50cal rifles.
The M4 failed miserably in every reliability test it ever participated in, also M4 has the same issues as M16, well because it is the same gun basically.
If Russian guns would suck on the battlefield then 90% of the worlds countries wouldnt use them or similar weapon designs, once again NO ONE uses the DI, NO ONE.
Also note that the US itself makes AKs for its military.
