Eddie Delahoussaye, one of my favorite jockeys, perhaps number 1. He used the whip reluctantly and always to the minimum necessary; here I don't believe he touched A.P. Indy with it once.
the breeders cup will never never b e the same as long as there are STINKING POLY TRACKS...that isnot racing i'm sorry..it's rubber...horses who do well on grass shouldn't be as good if not better...on poly
as i watch this amazing horse run i fall in love with him more and more he is soo incredable i love this horse tons he has really won my heart. he has that willl to win! and he dose it with a great style!
oh barbaroluver- i saw him today at lanes end. How magnificent looking he still is for a 21 year old man LOL! I got pics of him and Rock Hard Ten- my other fav.
AP Indy was the best horse in the race, and was a deserving winner. He three a clunker up in Canada but lost the Jockey Club Gold Cup when he missed the break. At the time of this race AP Indy was actually improving and could have been an all-time great had he run at 4. Still, he was an excellent 3 year old. However, I believe Best Pal was the fastest horse of 1992. He won his first 4 races (3 grade 1) and ran Beyers of 119, 121, 121, and 123. AP Indy's best was 114.
a p indy probably would have won the triple crown if would have run on the derby but i guess we will never know!! he was a great horse ... i loved his style with his head low!!! classic
ap indy was a very good horse but he had a complete meltdown in the molson million that year and if lm not mistaken lost in the gold cup to. who knows but it wasnt meant to be was it!
It's amazing they paid $2.9 Million for the horse at Keeneland, after his win, he passed the $2.9 Million mark in earnings! That's paying dividends... indeed!
If not for a stone bruise and some other ailments, Indy could have been a triple crown winner, especially against that particularly weak crop of 3yos. He proved how good he really was on Breeders Cup day. It still think it was a shame he didn't race at 4
A.P. INDY was such a great great son of the legendary and immortal SEATTLE SLEW. I would have loved to have seen a match race between himself and SWALE. I have published a book all about SWALE'S life. The title is: GRIT AND VALOR: THE STORY OF SWALE.
What a great video! A.P. Indy might have the single greatest bloodlines of all time, with the IMMORTAL SEATTLE SLEW as his father, AND THE IMMORTAL SECRETARIAT as his grandfather on the maternal side. There is no way you can breed much better than that!!!!
as good as secretariat and sslew were, AP didn't turn out good but he became better sire for sure, i think Fusaichi pegasus has the strongest pedigree, i hope he can produce so the Native Dancer line can continue their domination of the TripleCrown races, i love AP Indy, you are right strong lineage for sure
excellent comment. I love your scren name. I have published a book all about the life and career of Swale. he was yet another one of Seattle Slew's greatest sons. The title is: GRIT AND VALOR: THE STORY OF SWALE. Please check it out sometime. Thanks for writing.
lol, first of all slew was one of the greatest sires...u said ap indy didnt turn out good? ap indy was a horse of the year and is in the hall of fame, what ru talking about??
i was just stating the royal blood he has, his sire and dam sire are super horses, there was alot expected of him (his looks n early tallents, therefore alot was expected of him) n he did deliver some; in the belmont he run a sensational time 2:26, 10 lengths of his dam sire Secretariat, the true distance runner,
ap indy got hurt the day before the derby, thats not his fault...otherwise, quite probably ap indy would have been a triple crown winner..the santa anita derby, san rafael, peter pan, belmont and bcup classic was a horse of the year campaign, they also retired him and he never ran as a 4yo...i understand hes not slew or secretariat but ap indy is in the hall of fame, that usually means you are one of the best.
i remember watching this, there was some doubts on A.P. Indy since he lost the Molson Million and the Gold Cup, i always thought that Pleasant Tap was the better horse that day and would have won if he didnt get stuck on the rail when they turned for home.
my birth year, I absolutely love A.P. Indy!

Strike the Gold got the pace he needed but gave away still too much early and could only get up for 4th. A great late-charger.

AP Indy pensioned from stallion duty today. A champion on the track and in the shed. Best wishes, big guy.
