  • so...a picture of an amp, mic, and guitar with some good guitar playing. oh thank you sir, i learned sooooo much.

  • @slitherlock The idea is: The tone you hear is from what you see in the pics. The mics, the mic placement, the knob settings, the RG570 etc. Anyone consiedering a JSX, or having a JSX will hear the audio, see the pic, and know how they can get, or avoid this tone. See, you learned something by watching this video and didn't even realize it. :)

  • Can you remember how to dial in the crunch channel? I'm having no luck with it.. it's always seeming dull and lifeless :(

  • @creation23 since tone is subjective, its hard to answer that. If you're looking for a crisp Marshall tight crunch. The JSX won't do it. The reason I ultimately sold mine, was the inability to get a lower gain tight crunch tone. Try a Tube Screamer or compressor, then roll your guitar volume back.

  • Man, that amp sounds that good on Standby. Imagine what it sounds like turned on. jk. Awesome tone. Made me buy one. Thanks.

  • @metallman9 Thats so cool. I wish I still had it. Playing a Mesa Triple Rec now. But I'd love to have both.

  • haha, this is what it would have sound like if Vai played for Michael Jackson instead.

  • thats a wasome lil sort of song you u got going there u sould work on that awsome man

  • thats a wasome lil sort of song you u got going there u sould work on that awsome man!!!

  • I got a question. Is the built in noise gate on this amp good or would you just be better off buying a seperate noise gate?

  • The gate "works". It depends on how much gain your use, and if you have noisy pedals. I usually didn't run my gain very high, and I did have an NS-2 to squelch my noisy gain pedals. If you play live, the sound guy should certainly have a gate on your channel anyway. It's usable, but not as good as a pedal gate. I'd test it with your own gear before I made a final decision.

  • good lord. sounds just like Satch. THIS is the tone I want.

  • wow nice tone and playing!!! i have a jsx

2x12 and an ibanez1550m. ive had mine since they were available.. 2 quick qeustions are the pickups in your guitar stock if not what kind and second do u know if those preamp tubes are electro harmonix or jj's when i retubed a few years ago i put jj's in but the sound in your clip sounds so much better than mine just wondering again AMAZING tone!

imabee i need to get titanium plates in my fingers to let the tone flow through my fingers better lol

  • I currently have a Andy Timmons AT-1 in the bridge, but i'm not sure if it was in the guitar when I recorded this. I dont think it was. The tube were stock, I'm not sure what kind. I have since sold the JSX. While I liked alot of things about it. It didn't do the low gain stuff I needed. Recording with 2 mic's can help with tone, especially if they are different mic's pointed at the speaker differently.

  • Damn, show us the full version of this track if there is any :D that sounds awesome man

  • Hi mate. Did you change the tubes in your amp or are they the stock ones?

    Thanks

  • Stock

  • now that's a sound!!! Which guitar do you use?

  • Ibanes RG570

  • What are you using for delay?

  • Line6 XTLive Pedalboard int he loop.

  • That's a five star sound man!!

    congrats

  • if your on the ultra or crunch channel the volume on the other channel acts as a contour knob

  • Great playing and incredible tone! I love my jsx :) where on the cone do you place your mics? It looks like dead center but not positive. Also, did you EQ at all in mixing or is that purely the tone you got out of the mics and amp? And are the settings you used the ones that are shown in the picture? Thanks! :)

  • Well done. That's a pure JSX tone !

  • Great!! How did you record/mix the guitar??

  • @ollemannen5 Recorded with a Presonus Firetube Studio into Cubase recording software.

  • you got playing and mixing skills

  • 5 stars from me!

  • Darin, your tone on this solo reminds me of Warren DeMartini's tone on "Nobody Rides for Free," especially that neck pickup tone at the end. Nice playing!

  • He's a great player. :)

  • sounds good, what channel are you using

  • The Ultra channel. :)

  • BTW, sorry if I came off as harsh in that comment, lol

  • you play good Darren, realy dynamic a+a+a+a+a+a+a
