One of my ALLTIME faves of the Byrds! : ) Yes...should have been an A-side single! This always reminds me of the beginning of being in love with a girlfriend(the euphoria of love beginning)...
The last time "MOJO" magazine did a feature on the Byrds, they had a fact box including the "fact" that the intro to Mr Tambourine Man came from "Jesu, joy.." by Bach. Of course it didn't, this guitar solo DID! I wrote to them but they refused to publish the correction: really professional journalism....
B side of Turn Turn Turn Awesome...the Bach solo....legend has it that there is a stereo version......lost i think...just like the a side.....but who cares...its a great record
It's just amazing to me that this song was just a B-side to Turn! Turn! Turn! Just such an embarrassment of riches in music back then; I long for days like that to return.
This song, Gene Clark's melody and lyrics, have a timelessness and depth that surpasses the 60s pop format it was originally recorded in. Gene's spare demo version on the album "Gene Clark with Carla Olson: In Concert" is truly haunting!
I believe I have this on a non-commercial 45 that I won during a call-in when I was about 17...it's in a box in a closet somewhere; I no longer have a working turntable to play it on. It's a different version from the one that appears on the 4-CD box set that came out in 1990 or '91 and in some ways this has a cleaner sound to it. It lacks the harmonica overlaying McGuinn's riff of "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desire" which makes the solo much easier to appreciate.
When Bob Harris was doing the two part documentry on George Harrison on bbc radio2 Roger Mcquinn was talking about how the rickenbacer 12 string electric guitar geroge was using changed his life and the solo of this song was on the programme too.
"She Don't Care About Time" is one of the Byrds finest songs, with great lyrics by Gene Clark and a McGuinn 12-string riff adapted from a Bach melody. Originally recorded in mono and released as the B-side of a 45, there's a true stereo mix on the rare NEVER BEFORE vinyl album!
He played it at the concert in Delft as well (oct 20 2011)

Guitar break in the middle - too short, but superb. Brilliant track.

@vangelovan : Superb, indeed. It is the melody of J. S. Bach's "Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring". This was always one of my favorite Byrds tracks.
