  • He played it at the concert in Delft as well (oct 20 2011)

  • Guitar break in the middle - too short, but superb. Brilliant track.

  • @vangelovan : Superb, indeed. It is the melody of J. S. Bach's "Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring". This was always one of my favorite Byrds tracks.

  • One of my ALLTIME faves of the Byrds! : ) Yes...should have been an A-side single! This always reminds me of the beginning of being in love with a girlfriend(the euphoria of love beginning)...

  • My first legal high, at 15 or so. Eight miles high without mushrooms, even. I haven't heard it since. What a trip!

  • so sweet and only 45 years old...lovely, better mix than the box set CD reissue

  • Sould be released as single. In those days B sidesr were sometimes better tha A side on 45's

  • 45 left alone, the first time "she don't care about time "appeared was on " the History of the Byrds " CBS 2 LP compilation released in 1973.

  • great song

  • Thought I'd heard all the Byrds tracks, but not this one ~ Great! Bach influence 2 years before "Whiter Shade Of Pale"!

  • @SuperNevile if you like that folk rock bach influence listen to: too many miles by the searchers and sister isabelle by del shannon

  • Chris Hillman and Gene Clark are my two favorite byrds.Love them.

  • The last time "MOJO" magazine did a feature on the Byrds, they had a fact box including the "fact" that the intro to Mr Tambourine Man came from "Jesu, joy.." by Bach. Of course it didn't, this guitar solo DID! I wrote to them but they refused to publish the correction: really professional journalism....

  • Thry create the TOMORROW NEVER KNOWS drum pattern in this song

  • @jpgr1974

    one year earlier!

    Jim

  • Beautiful song, thanks for post.

  • @aceroadwheel this is bob brainen of wfmus favorite song

  • This song is so great, it actually makes me cry.

  • My favorite Byrds song!

  • B side of Turn Turn Turn Awesome...the Bach solo....legend has it that there is a stereo version......lost i think...just like the a side.....but who cares...its a great record

    Jim

  • And don't forget Chris Hillman's bass playing.

  • @tfmuch the most cutest man in the world

  • @romanido You mean Chris Hillman, of course.

  • Sooooo lovely.......

    thanks for post...StarDanRadio

  • An awesome share garyco762 !!!! Would love to hear the other version you mentioned?????

  • Awesome! i like it, the other version with the harmonica also.

  • ty........u have great taste!! :) :)

  • Fantastic Song & Band!!! I Love The Byrds! 5*s Thanks for sharing...Anita..

  • Thanks for uploading..Fantastic classic

  • It's just amazing to me that this song was just a B-side to Turn! Turn! Turn! Just such an embarrassment of riches in music back then; I long for days like that to return.

  • This song, Gene Clark's melody and lyrics, have a timelessness and depth that surpasses the 60s pop format it was originally recorded in. Gene's spare demo version on the album "Gene Clark with Carla Olson: In Concert" is truly haunting!

  • 'Turn....' got all the airplay, but I wore out the flip side of this 45. A favorite of mine.

  • ahhh such sweet memories from my youth...

  • I believe I have this on a non-commercial 45 that I won during a call-in when I was about 17...it's in a box in a closet somewhere; I no longer have a working turntable to play it on. It's a different version from the one that appears on the 4-CD box set that came out in 1990 or '91 and in some ways this has a cleaner sound to it. It lacks the harmonica overlaying McGuinn's riff of "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desire" which makes the solo much easier to appreciate.

  • There aint a srereo version as far as i know...not on the Never Before album thats for sure

    Jim

  • When Bob Harris was doing the two part documentry on George Harrison on bbc radio2 Roger Mcquinn was talking about how the rickenbacer 12 string electric guitar geroge was using changed his life and the solo of this song was on the programme too.

  • I just love this version and the other version with the harmonica during the break.

  • "She Don't Care About Time" is one of the Byrds finest songs, with great lyrics by Gene Clark and a McGuinn 12-string riff adapted from a Bach melody. Originally recorded in mono and released as the B-side of a 45, there's a true stereo mix on the rare NEVER BEFORE vinyl album!

There's a true stereo version on "Never Before

  • Great song from the Byrds.
