I agree! I saw Odd with a real band yesterday in Oslo.He had two (!) drummers in his new band.The played this song ,but much faster!MUCH faster!!!!!!!!!!!!!They where pounding and grooving and Odd was rapping about cows ,horses and other animals......

His name is Daniel Sandén-Warg and he's originally from Sweden, but lives and works in Norway and has been playing with Odd for a few years now. (Other fiddlers that have worked with Odd include Lars Underdal and Gjermund Larsen)
I think he actually sings " I byen Hammarkajl..." but it sounds like " I byen Samarkand.." I can`t find the lyrics to this song , because it has not been released on LP yet.
I know for a fact that the song is called Samarkand, and that's what he sings. (My old camera had an issue with 's' sounds, turning them into 'th') The song will be included on an album that will be released September 15 in Norway.
I think you are referring to the old north norwegian myth about the "Hammarkal". But I can´t hear how this east european/asian tonal colour in the music reflects this well known folklore story.

Another ting that came to my attention was the line ; " der sit kvinnene og slumrar " 2.40.Are we talking about heavier stuff here? I hope not!!

I think "Paddorna" is mistaking about the banjo bass player. I am really sure that he did not play in Odds band but in Anne Grethes band.
