  • I feel alot of the manic hot dance style of the other1930 tune this band recorded, Livin in the Sunilght, Lovin in The Moonlight. Both awesome examples of Bernie Cummins fine band! Thanks for sharing! This song sure got alot of play back then! I think Annette Hanshaw did at least 4 different records of it. Love your rare band pics that go with it!

  • @2reeler Thanks for the nice comment.I'm going crazy looking for my copy of "Cooking Breakfast For The One I Love" by the Clevelanders on Regal 8949.

  • @Bigband78 wow, Another version ! Id love to hear that too! It would be great if youtube would group all the versions of jazz era tunes together. Some might be bored, but Id enjoy the chance to hear all the different styles and tempos and vocal deliveries! The sax syncopation following the chorus on this is just great! Is the Clevelanders on your Regal label the same group on Brunswick? I have What a Girl What a Night! by them. Some fun! thank you

  • @2reeler" What a girl, what a night" was also done by Coon-Sanders.Usually the "Clevelanders" is a Harry Reser led band, never heard them on Brunswick.

  • haha in the background i hear bacon sizzlin

  • Check out Maria Muldaur's version on the cd "songs for the young at heart".

  • Mine Is A Vocalion Made In Australia # 585 The Flip Side Is "Under A Texas Moon" By The Clicquot Club Eskimos.

  • I Must Be Easy To Please. I LOVE! Every Version I Have Heard Of This Awsome Song. Each Has It`s Own Unique Flavor. Fanny Is Wonderful , Libby Is Cool, Ruth Is Sweet , Belle Is Awsome, Annette Is So Cute, Lee Is Smooth. Thanks For Posting.

  • Regal 8949 has it by "The Clevelanders"

  • Very nice, and though I like all the different versions of this wonderful song, I think Maria Muldaur's wonderful version from the 1990's is tops.

  • Is it the exact same song?

  • Yes it is! recorded in 1995, give it a listen to on rhapsody.

  • Nice one Lou, evidently recorded on one of Belle's good days. The arrangement is very similar to Roger Wolfe Kahn's version with Libby Holman' s vocal.

  • Never heard the Libby Holman version,is it as bad as the Fanny Brice version?

  • Libby Holman had a good voice but used too much vibrato for my taste in dance music. Only dimly remember that Fanny Brice didn't impress me. Belle Mann put out some duds but I like her "Buy Buy For Baby" with young Bennie Goodman.

  • I just saw the YT 240252 posting of the Fanny Brice version - still not impressed - pace too slow for a bouncy number and the comic descent into a yiddish accent leaves me wondering.

PS. The record "Buy, Buy..." is by Ben Pollack's Park Central Orch.

  • Her and Ethel Merman I can do without.I'll take Belle Starr.Ruth Etting and Helen Rowland any day.

  • Be nice to poor Fanny. I enjoy her recordings but everybody has their own tastes.

  • Although I usually like Fanny Brice, I don't care for her version of this song. My favorite version of this song is done by Annette Hanshaw.

  • nice one.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Your welcome,Corrie

  • Do you own any more Belle Mann numbers?

  • Very few,I know she sings on the other side on "When A Woman Loves A Man".If you want,I'll upload it,but give me a week or so.

  • I have one posted on my channel and have a couple others.

  • Wonderful idea! How about some buttermilk waffles, eggs benedict and coffee?

  • You're making me hungry and I'm overweight

  • Happy, fun song!

  • Google Queen song.

  • A grand song; I've never heard this one.

  • Did you ever hear "Minnie The Mermaid" by this band?

  • No, that sounds an interesting number! I'm not familiar with this band.

  • I Never Tire Of This Great , Great Tune, I`ve Got It On Severl Records By Different Artist. But Not This One THANKS FOR POSTING. I Love It.

  • I also have it by The Clevelanders on Regal 8949

  • Lou - thanks for sharing - it's a wonderful, even beat foxtrot - good for dancing!

That vocalist - Belle Mann - has a sweet and soothing voice. Thanks!!!

  • She does have a pretty style of singing

  • Bernie had one of the finest dance bands of the late 20's early 30's.

  • Yes Ben Bernie was one of the tops.

  • Good song..first time I have heard it.
