@Marti1745 Many may have joined the Jacobites to fight for Scottish independence, but that was not the Jacobite cause, or they would not have crossed into England.
The legitimate King has always been the one who can take and maintain his position on the throne, it has never been a pure matter of birth right.
and many did not want to go into Englnd. Lord George Murray for instance was bitterly apposed to the crossing of the Border. He is blamed for not carrying out the final push on London. In reality he was a soldier and he knew the Jacobite army was tiny and could never hold London without the English support. Your confused at the wish of Charles Edwars Stewart and the wish of many of the princes Army who did undoubtely wanted Scotland out of the 1707 union
Can't believe what a few kilts and bagpipes do to some people lol......Culloden was a good thing, Bonnie Prince Charlie and James Stuart were asses....t'was my ancestors that fought at Culloden on both sides, but the Jacobite ones were on the losing side and that is good.
@ going home.....yeah there is a similarity, a bunch of old fashioned religious whack jobs, who favor an absolute dictatorship (Palestinians/Jacobites) are rising up in revolt against the forces of modernity, freedom and democracy (Israelis/British)..... Now don't get me wrong, I have scottish heritage and the Jacobites were romantic and great fun, but what they wanted to impose on everybody else was pure bullshit.
This video along with the power of the song shows the darkness of Culloden that we could never have seen. It makes me cry watching what happened to my ancestors...
Know the Deanta version of Alastair McDonald's lovely song "Culloden's Harvest" is enormously popular around the Web. But I think I still much prefer the original version by the writer himself (Alastair McDonald). Happily it, too, is now up on Y/Tube - check out my playlist. (Sorry, don't know how to transfer the video or the link to this comments box.) You might also be interested in his (very moving!) recording of The Highlander Seer, on the same sad topic - also in my playlist.
Please remember these men were not rebels at all but in a rising for the Legitimate king and the cultural survival of Scottish not British life.
God bless them all

Sadly, this was the politics of the time. Is there any difference!, with today’s politics.
Is there a similarity with Palestine of 1948.

@williebyron: Thanks for the tip. If you want to put a video "link" in the comments box you have to cut and paste the last bit like this:
watch?v=NWKSs7d2x78 or just v=NWKSs7d2x78
The "linkee" then copies and pastes exactly over the appropriate place on any video.
