My band does this song. It always gets a great cheer from the audience. If I don't tell them that it is a Cars song, they think that I wrote it. That shows you just how little airplay this song got in 87. By far, this is my favorite album by the Cars, and Ben Orr. Very dark lyrics and some chunky rock. Masterpiece!
@jorsak It's a really good song. The first cars song i heard was Magic and I immediately loved it. But overall my favorite album is Candy-O. Cars are awesome! i hope they tour again and that they come to Texas. They have fans down here too!
@ricocasekfan Yeah... I've grown up with them. I remember buying Panorama when I was a little kid because it had a cool cover. LOL. I actually didn't like the album and I took it back went and bought another album that had a cool cover "Asia" which I loved. lol.
But then I found Shake it Up and that was it. I was a HUGE Cars fan from then on and I went back years later and loved all their stuff.
@jorsak Nice. My favorite song off of Shake It Up is Victim of Love. I started to like them about a year and a half ago, and i was really surprised when they reunited. I bought the new album and I liked it. It has a cool cover. lol
the Cars were my # 1 group band since the late 70s but I'm looking for one in particular...it's mostly weird sounds music but I really liked it..will eventually find it..
they've got a line on you you've been in trouble too you've got some jets inside cherry lips and delirious eyes you've been in trouble and it keeps you down double trouble you've been in trouble when you come to town double trouble they better chain your hands scratch some evil picks and pans you've still got some jets inside but you've got to live with those empty eyes you've got some jets inside broken boxes broken pride
Listen to Strawberry moonlight, Bye bye love, candy-o, cruiser, dont cha stop, you're all ive got tonight and
Cool fool. There all great hard rock songs of the cars. It's good to see a song that is undeniably hard rock of theirs, whic proves there not a pop band, they were a rock band, but very diverse, only the beatles could challenge their diversity.
@TheMajorHawke I know all of those songs, but I don't find them as hard as Double Trouble, Strap Me In or Door to Door. And they are "still" a rock band. Check out their 2011 album Move Like This.
I remember The Cars on MTV when I was 3 years old, and I loved them. My dad and I rocked out to this, and many other amazing Cars songs during my childhood. Their new album sounds amazing so far. I love that they stepped up to own their 80's sound that so many indie/alternative bands copy today. Sadly, most people my age listen to this kind of music and don't know who they are. I can't wait to see them live!
@360Freakoutkid Double Trouble MTV Live - video awards show is on YouTube if you haven't seen it - it's the second half of a video beginning with You Are The Girl.
it was a forgone conclusion the band was going to break up when this album was released so it was overlooked...but it's got some gems! this music will stick in your head for days.
I heard this song when The Cars played it live on SNL. It was and is flat out one of the best songs I have ever heard. I then bought the song on 45 RPM when it came out (which is the version on this page). I was shocked about how watered down the song had become. If you want a treat, track this song down and hear it live on a SNL repeat. You will love it. Gordon
If you think the SNL version of this song sucks then YOU suck! this is first time hearing studio track and there's little comparison. live on SNL, this song is a classic. Gordon is dead on in his comments, I was lucky enough to have taped SNL the night the CARS were on SNL Halloween1987, otherwise, i'd have never known about Double Trouble.the SNL version is ADDICTING, Searing tone ala the(ADA MP1). SOOOO CRUNCHY. Eliott Easton nails this song....i'll post the SNL vid, it's here...somewhere.
I totally agree! In fact, SNL is the very FIRST time I ever even heard this song! The SNL version doesn't drag like the studio version yet it doesn't lose the cool vibe. It's a straight rocker and Ben delivers! Thanks GFS6666 for having great taste!!!!!
@mariofan4523 Yes, just search for "SNL Double Trouble in the Video section of Google. There are two video's of it on the web. Hhpe this helps, Gordon
@GFS6666 Thanks, but still having trouble finding it. Went to the SNL website but couldn't find it there. Being a cyberdummy that I am, can you get me the exact website? Everybody's raving about it, and I'm dying to see and hear it. Is it on You Tube by any chance?
@mariofan4523 Ok, posted the link in your profile "channel comments" section. For some reason, YouTube will not allow links to to posted (or I don't know how to post a link) in the comments section. Hope you enjoy it.
David and Ben looked good!!!!!! I never noticed David R. until he was a judge one time I think back in 86-87 Miss USA or universe pagent. He looked hot!!!!!!!!!!!!
When Dabney Coleman intoduced The Cars, intead of a pretentious scream, it was understated, almost as if to say, "you don't need some bogus introduction, you know that these guys are great.
Been looking for this song a long time. i heard it on SNL from 1987 when Cars were musical guest and Dadney Coleman was host. They also did Strap Me In. Door-To-Door was such a great album, i dont understand why it didnt do as well as their others and why these songs aren't as big as You Might Think or Magic.
One of THE best, sexiest fricking songs I've ever heard....

I've always LOVED this song!! It's ignored by many, but it's one of the best, to me. 1987 rocked. ;)

Anytone ever notice that "Delirious" is a reoccurring word for The Cars? It's in the new album as well. Just observing.

@jorsak I've noticed that with several other words and the phrase "tripped and stumbled". it's in "why cant i have you" and in "drag on forever"
