This is by far my favorite skiing video on youtube. Most videos have bad camera work, but this video has great camera work and is very enjoyable to watch.
last week was my first time skiing and it was in squaw . Im absolutely amazed by the sheer skill and focus u guys have to ski right from the top to the bottom of the mountain . keep rocking ... hope i get there some day
@dmzusa, one more thing. Don't bother to respond, I blocked you. And thanks for adding your insult to all skiers in Europe, California and specifically Squaw. Why don't you contact a few of your friends at Squaw, have them look at the video, and see what they think? If they're concerned, have them get in touch. They can find me on the passholder roster or ask Dee Dee on mighty mites to find me. Both my kids are in the race program.
Geez, you should really move to the beach. It's safer there.
@dmzusa, you clearly have no sense of what you're watching on this video. I've skied through the area you are referring to (from 3:06 on the video, to roughly 3:42 where, on busy days, patrol will issue visual warnings to skiers going too fast, to 4:16 where the run flattens) and I can assure you Lynn's skiing would not even raise an eyebrow with ski patrol. Lynn begins turning to check her speed and she gives other skiers a wide berth. I doubt she exceeded 15 mph through the area in question.
Squaw Valley is in the US and has a reputation for having the most arrogant skiers west of the Alps... California Ego-maniacs... Litigation has caused ticket prices to rise to 102 us$ for Vail- 92 us$ for Squaw- same for Aspen and all major areas in North America...Damn lawyers... I know the Mountain Mgr at Squaw as well as many of the front office people...I wonder if they have seen this. Euro-types now get tickets/passes pulled - ques here are held to for everyone's safety (more to follow)
scottalucas and lynn.. your skiing manners are pathetic. You endangered many a life with a run like you've shown. Speeding through a "SLOW" skiing posted area at Cornice II and Headwall Express Bottom terminals only proves my point. I hate to say this but 'Where was Squaw's Ski Patrol?' I ought to know, having worked four years on that mountain. You are what we referred to as "geeks", snot nosed punks who care nothing but for themselves.
@dmzusa jesus christ!!! calm down mate ure acting like they were trying to hit people with thier ski poles as they were skiing past. they seem experienced enough to judge when to slow down if someone gets in the way. i never slow down on any part of any mountain lmao
@scotland1989able mellow out and take a chill pill... I only pointed out the obvious flaws of making the video... if, and I hope it doesn't happen, scottalucas or lynn are involved in an accident possibly caused by them, an attorney could find this video and use it against them for possible negligence in their skiing. Competent skiers, both fit that mold but smart skiers, not really. I wasn't as worried for their safety as I was for the people around them... mixing speeds causes accidents
@dmzusa yeah fair enough i never thought of it too much. is this mountain in america? ive only ever been skiing across europe and most "european" skiiers are a bunch of arrogant wankers who cant even form a que to get on a ski lift. thats why i dont slow down for people or anything when im skiing lol
Sometimes I feel trapped in a hole... my friend sent this to me over YouTube, and watching it makes me feel like I'm there, free up on a mountain with snow. It's kinda cool.
It's a VioSport helmet cam mounted on my helmet. The helmet cam connects to a video cam that's in a pack. The video cam has to be able to take a video input signal (acting like a VCR). I bought a new camera recently and discovered it's hard to find cams with inputs and impossible to find cams with the wired remote control input...
The run goes from the top of Gold Coast to the base. Getting up to that spot is a 2-lift affair. The first lift is the Funitel, which is (I think) about 10 - 12 minutes followed by the Gold Coast high speed 6 pack which is about 5 or 6 minutes. Total vertical is about 2,500 feet.
Thanks Zach! When I took this I thought it'd be a bit of a throwaway but since she was in the frame the whole time I thought it made kind of an interesting sequence. Not extreme, not in the park, just a nice day in the snow - that's our gig, enjoy it if it's yours too!
i like to ski so this is pretty cool. it is too bad xtremeski4lif has to be a litle bitch because he cant even get down the bunny slope. cool video guys
Great video! I liked how you kept everything so steady, like a pro. What a great idea to follow your friend and video her. I like the snow mobile buzzing by. You're both great skiers!
BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL! Hard to believe my last trip to Squaw was in '74. What memories! Fantastic camera work, Made the run look like a walk in the park! Great skiing!
We skied Squaw March 2010 and I recall this long roller . Your video shows appropriate skier control.

hello scottalucas.
I came across your video a few months ago. It is my favorite skiing video on Youtube.
Every few weeks, if I am feeling a bit stressed, I know I can spend 6.35 minutes with you on your mellow "Squaw Valley Ski Run".
Your companion skis with a lovely fluidity.
I hope you guys are still hanging out. Thanks to both of you.
