The West and the Zionist who were supplying weapons to several otherwise peaceful ethnic factions externally creating an sectarian civil war in which none existed before the discovery oil that instigated the conflict in the Darfur region. When the Chinese where willing to invest billions of US Dollars in oil drilling pipelines and infrastructure improvements such as railways roads water and irrigation projects hospitals schools universities in Sudan thats when the conflict started.

I do not think that you guys should sit and argue about which one of these countries are worst off.. I think that we should try to care about all of them. RAISE AWARENESS. And yes things like media ignoring certain parts is a whole topic of its own. I hate the way that media has gone in the last 30 years or so.

The UN Peace - The UN Peace is its ok for the the goverment to rape and kill but when the civilians fight back then The UN moves and stops the fighting . thats why in my opinion the UN should change or be eradicated The UN as we know it is corrupted and greedy and its to liberal and to capitalist , the UN does nothing to help people .

JoMur200, your comments about a corrupt UN demonstrates you understand very little of the UN. The UN is exactly what the member states make of it. If you want to change it you must make your politicians change it. Do yourself a favour and take some time to look into the subject before you vilify an organisation that does some very great work under very complex conditions, heavily defined mandates with scant resources.

I think it has to do with ratings and readership as well. They like to focus on Israel/Palestine because everyone has an opinion, but with regards to Africa, most people don't have an opinion and don't believe it will ever get better.

How about Congo, where millions have died in the last decade. In terms of body count, nothing comes close to the Congo conflict.

Darfur is totally different because the government is the one perpetrating the violence against unarmed civilians and bombing their villages. They are even blocking the deployment of peace keeping forces to protect civilians. On the other hand they are not only unwilling to apprehend the Janjaweed militias but are in fact supplying them with weapons.
