In the early '80s Italian commercial TVs were flooded with Japanese animes. As a little kid, I was fond of all the giant robot series... except for this one! :-D
OML, I don't care what anybody says, Mekanda NEEDS TO BE IN ANOTHER SRW GAME (so does Escaflowne, but that's a separate issue altogether) ! I myself haven't heard of this mecha anime, but after seeing that move at 1:11...man, I'd LOVE to shoot down foes with that!
you can find all the 70's robot shows at this store in greenbelt. from mekanda, dangard ace, grendaizer etc. i completed my collection from that era already
It's to bad Mekanda didn't have a ending, due to the financial crisis of the company it was in. I was lucky enough to see the it up to the time they where using cars and Mekander was in parts lunched to combine then the 3 cars or sometimes the jets combine into one then dock on the new Mekanda robot.
Mekanda Robo's company was having financial difficulty during late 70's 80's, so this series was never an ending.... And due to this trouble financial end... the rights of Mekanda Robo was unsalvagible.... wuwu....
sir, its "mekanda interlock", obscure & not far behind Q-DYNE, GAIKING, DANGUARD ACE, GRENDIZER & ofcourse the sentais JACK-Q, STAR RANGERS. rushing home to see this cartoons was bliss back then. Pag masyado mahal ang robot toy, sticker forms pede na din!!!
yeah i remember balatack... and all of the other robot cartoon shows you listed... hayyy its fun to think of the old old days when i was still a child....
yeah my God brings back memories all of them MazingerZ,Daimos, balatak,VoltesV,UFO Gredizer, and Macross oh and Astro Boy! LOL! i remember President Marcos banned all of them with the video games space invaders and pacman.
DOn't worry about. That fucker Marcos is dead and all his vain attempts to ban these goodies ended miserably with miserable politicking. The Philippines is way better off without his archaic repressive methods (and plus! there are more anime & videogames out there than ever before to have fun with!).

I do remember the enormous impact it had on child like me in seventies, and now is still remembered very well, take a lok at Goldrake in internet or take a look at Romano Malaspina a great voice actor
Sarap talaga, until these robots were replaced by Honeylyn the Ballon Girl, Nobody's Child, Alakazam the Great, Ron Ron at kung anu-ano pang pang placate sa mga batang namimiss ang mga robots.

The opening title is swell enough & really has a great retention in my memories up to this day. Hearing it again is like seeing a long lost friend from high school. These robots kept us kids at home then, and I remember that we always race home before 6:00 pm to watch these shows or risk not having to say anything come next day where discussions about the previous nights battles usually dominates the major part of students time.
I would like to know whether somebody here still remembers the TV series "Sawakas"? It is a Japanese import (to the Philippines) made famous by lead starrer Kobayashi & girlfriend Reiko Abe. Its theme were always about earthquakes in Japan. About early 1980's. It is being shown late at nights, about 10:30 pm.
@judelyn88 :The one in question is really "Japan Sinks",A J-dorama adaption.Keiju kobayashi stars in this TV Adaption and ayumi ishida stars as reiko abe.now we already know what this Japanese import (to the Philippines) Is!
@DairuggerXV Thank you for the info. I really really like this show specially the cute girl Reiko Abe. I have a crush to one girl that looks very much like her then. 30 years ago... I can vividly remember the scene when a hanging bridge was falling down plank by plank and Kobayashi was driving it - surviving the falling pieces by just two plank or so... very exciting for a kid like me then specially that it is a late night show every wednesdays at 10:00 pm.
Unfortunately, Super Robots in general weren't all that good in C3. Plus, Mechander brought along those stupid Omega Missles that wipe out a huge chunk of the field. At least it gives the ReGZ something to do. XD
The enemy could only launch the missle whenever mekanda robot shows up. So, he has a time limit to finish the enemy robots before he gets hit by the omega missile
i used to looooove this series to bits!! This program used to be shown in ABS-CBN, I think it was followed by the Lazerion robot (if anybody could recall).
