how are you supposed to hit someon with his kick? ive been dongTKD for almost five years but ive never hit someone wih it in sparring. whenever i start spinning they see it coming and back up.
Very informative. This version of the tornado kick is a great deal easier that the Japanese Kenpo version... Giving my short stature when I was very young, the tornado kick was not easy to learn. We had to come up with a way for me to perform each jump kick in a 3 step sequence in order for me to advance to the next belt. I'm sure given I am twice the size I was when I was 7 years old, that I can probably learn this again if I try hard enough.
I guess what you call a "Tornado Kick" is what I call a "Reverse Turn Jumping Roundhouse Kick" because that doesn't look like a Tornado Kick. Solid Kicks though.
Thats not a tornado kick. a tornado kick is just like that except the foot u kick lands on the ground first. its extremely difficult and requires a very strong core to keep u spinning so u can land yur kicking foot first. these people r full of shit. SO many videos that lie
Oh this is the best Tornado kick I've seen...! Although I've mastered half of it... ( I can only kick to Chest Level) The kick is very fatal... Especially when executed at the Head or The Sides.
@spareaxe if the kick is done correctly with a good fake or motion, you wont counter. you will off balance. but if you see it coming, of course a simple lead lead side kick can knock the kicker off balance as he is turning. this is actually a nadabon kick or 360 round house.
@spareaxe Maybe the easiest and fastest way is to make a skip step back (not to much thou) and then hit the opponent with a pit chagi on his back. That would be called counter pit chagi. Im no pro yet so i could be wrong :P
@spareaxe It depends on what martial arts you are doing because each one has different rules on how you can fight/spar. Sometimes I block the kick with my arm and then follow up with a punch/kick. I normally just move away until the kick is done and then follow up with any punch/kick. I've never done this in a match due to rules but twisting their leg to take them down is another option. [I'm a 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo and Karate]
@spareaxe 1 big thing alot of martial arts forget is that you have your hands and more importantly your eyes. This kick is wide and obvious just put your hand(s) out there and block it with watever martial art you know. This is a flashy move and easy to block. If your strong another thing you can do is kick their leg while there kicking at you it will make you look like a total bad ass and them an idiot for throwing such a flashy move at you.
@spareaxe There are several ways to stop this kick. As it's a full spin involved it can sometimes be slow, and generally speaking you will notice a fair amount of telegraphing with shifting of the front leg to start the spin. This is a chance to get in close so the kick cannot connect properly. Or a well placed side kick the the body will knock the opponent off balance while in mid spin. Sometimes afterwards, you'll find that the opponent will land off center. It can wear down energy quickly too
I've always been taught to get the leg up a little higher for the back leg. I think makes the spin a little tighter together and quicker. Still having to dodge his would be fun.
it is but its low, its not for show but really for fights, some people make them look nice by jumping high and stuff but this is just effective but low
used properly it can be...and will be....as every few years we're seeing more actual mixed martial ARTISTS come along....it's bound to happen....because this kick applied properly is just simply great and effective.
This seems like a good technique...I've always wondered. Can you be a good martial artist even though your self trained? I-I can't afford a teacher and most of my skills come from watching videos like these.
Yeah uh, I saw this self-trained dude and his stuff seemed pretty satisfactory, but you're going to be missing out if you don't have someone to guide you. Do you have any friends that did martial arts, and if so will they be willing to help you? Sometimes you can get technical stuff down by yourself, but an understanding of things really is crucial.
Don't allow your head to turn until the last moment. Keep 'eye' contact until the very last moment then allow the head to catch up with the body as you launch the kick. This minimises the dizziness
Thanks for your comment. Many Taekwondo schools adopt different colored uniforms that represent varies achievements. As far as competition is concerned, you will see our students in traditional white uniforms. Keep in mind, the current WTF uniform has also evolved from the traditional fold over uniform. Thanks again.
That's great! This video is more for sport application. Most techniques in sport TKD will be thrown to the body. On the other hand, it's good to practice to the head to acquire that 2 point head shot.

i think it is not really neccessary if it is a back kick or a hook kick.you have to dodge both.so who cares?!but nice kick though

I thought that was wushu or kung fu

There is no power in this you need to do more like a wushu tornado kick;drive your body into the kick then do the round house kick

your kick it's wrong because you must land facing the opponent, not with your back

just keep your guard high, or take a few steps backwords....

more like a roundhouse kick

nah, you don't have to be in the air in order for it to be a tornado kick.
a tornado kick is basically a fancy spin roundhouse anyways.
