@iamlockon dude I've been practicing that for about a year know (very inconsistent) and it's hard 3 string sweeps are known to be harder the 5 string sweeps I would work on them both though. Another one is

G-14------- And then back up it's really easy and smooth

I know, but not using it limits his range.

being used to using all fingers is very good for your technique, and you wont have trouble suddenly usingit when you realize you need it.

the speed comes with the time

it's important to sync both of your hands

try it very slow...try a short pause after every string while you pick rests on the next string

and don't move your wrist...move your arm in a fluid up/down motion

that's the stuff that helped me

Thanks for this. ESP makes a nice guitar. Got the EC-1000, but that looks like a sweet guitar too. I also got an EX-351 which is nothing too special, but it plays as good as anything. Nice sweeping.

I'm no Steve Vai or anything, But I CAN help you with this. One of the most important things in this technique is to relax your right hand and pick smoothly. Don't stress and hold the pick hard, hold the pick gently and have fun! If you're not having fun try doing this in front of the TV or something. Good Luck :D

@ZaKkRaDiCaL123 dude sweeping is mostly legato, practise doing the legato for your sweeps without the picking, then eventually when you get comfortable doing this, just add the slide with your pick, and remember sweeping doesnt consist of you picking all the notes, its more smoothly sliding your pick over your strongs- legato, from through with your slide, when you get this, youl eventually get the feel for the clean spot. ;] WOORD

Whether it takes you a few weeks or a few months (even longer in my case), just keep practicing them and they'll come fairly naturally. Just remember to practice it slowly until you get to a speed you're comfortable with.
