To not pick up that child was probably one of the biggest decisions he ever had to make and it literally killed him to leave her there. Whoever saves a life, it is considered as if he saved an entire world. Had no one ever seen this photo the billions of dollars in donations and aid would have never happened. To not pick up that child was probably one of the biggest decisions he ever had to make and it literally killed him to leave her there. No one was harder on him than himself and I refuse to judge him. He payed his price. He didn't save her or himself, but he still helped thousands more bringing awareness to the situation.

This is what I do know though. Throughout the dark ages, religion was a tool of fear the church used to keep power. Priests lived luxurious lives, while others worked hard out of fear that they would be ostracized or excommunicated. Sounds great huh?

The church was the closest thing to a government in the dark ages. It was also one of the biggest patrons of science and the arts.
Hard to believe, but it's true.

Bin Laden is opposed to many things. Globalization, US business interests interfering in the middle east, US support of Israel, US support of dictatorships. I can go on.
As for the Insurgents, Hamid Karzai was one of them. They were not a united bunch and they turned on each other after the soviets left because of that.
Taliban formed in 1996, 7 years after that war.

We didn't train the Taliban didn't exist yet. Mullah Omar, the leader of the Taliban WAS in the mujahedeen. But that organization was an alliance of many different groups, and they splintered after the soviets left.
It wasn't all the Taliban. Never was. The northern alliance, you know, the people the Taliban were fighting, were in the same group.
