jeter was always my favorite yankee, but bernie always seemed to come up with the clutch hit when we needed it the most.he sould be hof and 51 should be retired for yanks
@rboffill 100 percent positive it was him. I know a few other people who have seen him and have said the same thing. Last time I saw him was at Lazy Boy in White Plains, he's there a bunch playing guitar and being a drunk asshole. He was one of if not my favorite baseball players. It was really disappointing and unexpected. But yeah the guy is a complete dickhead. I guess if Tiger is a cheating douche bag, it's not too suprising that Bernie is too, but still some guys you asume to be good guys..
The standing ovation which they show at the end of this video last for about a minute and a half. Bernie Williams is a true Yankee, and a true gentleman.
I'm a Sox fan, but I couldn't hate Bernie. He was pretty good against the Sox (.267/.356/.442, 27 HR in 881 PA). One heck of a person and player.
He's pretty damn close, but I don't think he should get in. There were a lot of great OFers and CFers in his era, and that isn't really a knock on him. I do think he was very good and he at least deserves to get his numebr retired.
i dont even call myself a yankees fan anymore because true yankees are rare. i LOVE guys like bernie williams, derek jeter and jorge posada but the game is no fun when u buy your rings.
@Philly4Life1818 A true Yankee fan doesn't quit on his team. And this whole myth about buying Championships is a myth. The Yankees have had the higgest payroll since 2002 and they have only won one championship which was last year. You can have all the money in the world but if the players don't come together and perform on the field then any team can beat them. The higgest payroll teams in the NL : Cubs and Mets have won nothing. So please get of this buying championships. It's bull !
@jziglar regardless, they dont play with their prospects anymore. i like guys with heart for a team, thats plays his best so that a team that he grows to love can win a hard earned championship. take lebron james for example :p
@lcvd1 So you will be surprised to hear that the Wall Street Journal put out a list of the 10 greatest Yankees of all time, and neither Bern nor Donnie were on that list. On top of that, they put Jeter ahead of Yogi and the Mick! I love Jeter but that's just absurd.
Bernie Williams is a wonderful Centerfielder and a commited Yankee. I think that they were, plain out saying, stupid to let him go away like that. My mother is actually goos friends with him, so I know he is a nice man. His children sing on one of his CD's and I think they are adorable. My point of veiw is, if he can't play ball - he can sure play guitar. Love you Bernie!
in the business that is baseball today, when you can look up a player's stats and you see the same team name all the way down is a remarkable achievement in itself.
in Bernie's case Steinbrenner wanted to trade him because
- he was fast but didnt steal bases
- great range in center but had a weak arm
- switch hitter with good contact hitter but little homerun power
the one thing Steinbrenner didnt see at first was Bernie's greatest strength the will to win
u have no heart if u do not love and respect this man. i became what i am 2day because of bernie. i hated baseball when i was younger until i saw him hit a shot into the upper deck. i have loved baseball ever since and am playing d1 baseball now. great man
gave me goosebumps menqq..i met him in my plane coming to newyork from newyork.. :) only one who noticed him.wrote me a letter cuz i requested it by flight attendant.buht mann disz yANKEE was nd is a great person nd player
wow im not a yankees fan (phillies) but wow.... he is good!!! ive been looking for this to come out ever since i saw it on outside the lines.... good job bernie!
