Think about it this way, Edge's neck was already not in the best condition, so Brodus Clay gave him a reason to check it out, which led the doctors to deem Edge unable to compete. So, in a way, Brodus Clay helped Edge retire without serious injury

This was NOT the fault of Brodus Clay. The fact is Edge has had neck pain for 9 years because of his original injury back in 02. This is not what ended his career. It was 7-8 years of wrestling and taking bumps on a surgically repaired neck that broke it. If you watch back for months leading up to the retirement you can see him flexing his hands and grabbing his neck on frequent occasions.

Hello CantBeShook, you make a valid point, and taking in to look at all the footage where anything can be seen that signals Edge leading to his retirement is not as powerful as this was one of his last in-action appearence and considering how this made an impact on Edge it could quite very well be debated that this put the full stop on Edge's career. WWE may have known and thought it was too late, near to WrestleMania 27 to do anything about it.

There's three answers to that, either this is just another publiciry hoax and a year or two down the line Edges music will sound all of a sudden and everyone will go baserke. Or Edge may do what Booker T does now and do commentary, the only negative out of the three is that it may just be the end for Edge, he sounded happy enough in his retirement speech because he was looking forward to what he could do in his own free time. And according to Edge he is being forced to retire.
