As an example, think about the times you made what you thought to be a well thought out comment on youtube and how many people responded directly to you...now think about all the inflammatory comments you've made and how many more direct comments you received. Critical thought is not popular nor is it always entertaining. Fear and shock are always much more effective motivating factors.
