  • Slight correction. This ship is attached to the 9th Bomb Squadron at Dyess as evidenced by the bat insignia on the tail. I live about 20 miles from the north end of the runway at Dyess and get to see these magnificent machines on a regular basis. Great video! Thanks for sharing!

  • @dancininanson Its Not a bat on the tail, Its a knight holding out a sword and on the nose art it is titled 'The Last Lancer'

  • Bring them back to Wichita!!!!

  • Yes mate I quite agree. The guards at the gate not letting the B-1 ground crew in was absolutely hilarious! However, do you remember that they let them in pretty snappy after a USAF Lt.Col (who seemed to be a B-1 driver himself) shall we say "persuaded" the RAF to let them in?

It's being British that makes us so daft!

  • Nice shot of the burners!! I was probably 50 feet away from you to the right that day. Got a similar vid on youtube. Disappointed that the B1 wasn't in the flying schedule so I came back for the fly out day - my first time watching it, and it was impressive. I've got my IMac hooked up to surround speakers and a bass box.....it's the only way to get a bit closer to replicating the location sound. However, NOTHING on this Earth beats standing anywhere near that thing when it takes off!

  • I think the sound in that take off gets spoilt after she gets out of range because the sound from the Tornado F.3 takes over & you cant hear the B-1B at all. But if its noise you wanted the Vulcan was your best bet lol as that passed from north taxiway to south taxiway right across the 27 runway passing only about 8ft infront of all the spectators and that was deafening even though the engines were running just above idle to taxi her to her parking spot on the sout side of the airfield

  • I wonder if this was a "relaxed" take off?

For a supersonic jet, it wasn't in a hurry to get off the ground!

Beautiful plane none the less though, great vid.

  • i dont think it was so much what you call a 'relaxed' take off i think is just the pilot being kind to the spectators who were viewing down the other end of the airfield, the 09, he wanted them to get good photos of it before the plane got too high up for the basic cameras. would have been ok for everyone with their SLR's with Telephoto lenses but a standard compact camera's images become very pixelated on high up images

  • Ahh i see, i'm not too familiar with cameras, still a mighty impressive sight none the less!

  • Too right an impressive sight, my 2nd fav of the show after XH558 lol. Just a shame the B-1B wasn't displaying :'( Never the less i got it on its early morning Wednesday arrival and got to see it taxi in to its parking spot so i was happy lol

  • Same here! Didn't see either at Fairford, but i saw 558 at Farnborough last year, where i lost my vulcan virginity! Then later in the day this very same B1 done 2 flypasts, amazing stuff.

  • this plane is very noisy I saw it when it was landing

  • you must have been there early then because the B-1B was the first thing to arrive to RIAT lol I had a MACH 3 ticket watching everything arrive from the wednesday to the following monday. It arrived just after 8 on the wednesday, it was quite a laugh, cuz the USAF ground crew weren't being let through the gates until after 8 & they needed 2 b in there ready for this plane but the guards weren't letting them in, me & my mate simon thought it was a right laugh !!

  • damn, your camera mic can't even take the noise...that is one loud bomber

  • thats on my camcorder, not my camera lol
