@lyndes33 No, the judges pick the songs for the groups, they can switch between song of the judges choice, but it's ultimately the Judges who pick the songs. I guess so that they will know what the original sounds like, and so they make the songs sort of equal among the different groups.

@amazenfireangel Ok after thinking about it some more... I'm 95% confident they are a collective mastermind. With a group like the Aires or AB you clearly have to have one writer to write all those crazy chords--there's no way around it.

Pentatonix though? Kevin lays down a beat, Scott starts singing the song over the top of it, Avi starts vamping on bass using the chord structure of the song and Mitch and Kirstie start harmonizing... Other than the "tricks" they always add, it writes itself.

@amazenfireangel I've been wondering that as well. I know that Scott has a VERY distinct style of vamping/riffing (you can hear it on the solo work he's posted on his channel) and that makes it incredibly obvious (to me anyways) that he's at the least writing his own solos.

Avi includes many effects that are so incredibly difficult to do that he clearly must have developed them prior to joining the group and thus must be writing his own parts. For similar reasons KO likely writes his own stuff
