What do you think of how Warren Buffett's father was an advocate of the gold standard who wrote fan letters to Murray Rothbard, whereas Warren Buffett is a consistently statist apologist for Keynesianism and President Obama's policies?
It's strange what kind of effects you can have with charging people. In the book freakonomics they describe a school that decided to charge when people leave their kids after school for to long. Turns out the rate they were charging was lower than most baby sitters so the parents left them longer. When they went back to not charging the parents saw it as FREE babysitting now.
Money just has the effect of forcing people to think about what they are gaining and losing.
I am surprised how unknown and insignificant the books MrCropper reads are. He surely loves reading, that is just reading for the sake of it. Also keep in mind that MrCropper likes to purchase 1-dollar books, so don't look for the crème de la crème of books.

While a good stock picker, that's not the key to Buffett's success at all. The reason his wagers play out is the concepts of book value, cash flow and profitability under good management. Buffett just extends these principles into wagers in the lowest risk investments. Low risk high return is at odds with much of finance.
