Wow, nice hobby although expensive. Mind you, my main hobby is bicycles and and I could have bought a brand new car with the amount I've spent on my 2 bikes !! One other thing I've noticed about my tributes - they don't feel all that heavy in my hand. I'm sure my old original Monster Turbines were heavier. This makes me think they might be fake too. @davidkins I hate to break it to you, but these fakes do not sound close to the real ones. I know because I've tried some fakes and it was a night and day difference in sound. They do look and feel extremely real, but the the performance is not there. People just have bad taste in sound quality that are doing these reviews. You can give them as a gift and people will be happy, but the truth is that a lot of them suck compared to the real Sony xb41ex or the Jvc Xtreme Xplosives earbuds!

Hey matey, good vid. I have a questiion about the Tributes.

I've just bought a set from a store in the USA. The store seems legitimate enough.

Anyway, after watching your video I'm wondering if they are legitimate as the gold part on mine seems to be plastic. Also, what kind of box did your genuine set come in? I see one guy showing a video of a sewt that comes in a velvet box but mine came in a box like in your video here. I have emailed the shop and they assure me they are genuine. Cheers!

@davidkins The velvet box are the special edition that come with the kind of blue CD but the normal ones come with the box shown in this vide so dont worry about that.

It is very hard to tell the fakes from the real ones these days and they are even starting to sound alike but the originals you can still tell as soon as you listen to them, if you could email me pictures of the bore where you put the tips on the the wire mesh in there then i should be able to give you a better idea.

Thanks for the reply and appreciate your help. They sound ok but not like $500's worth. I used to own the original Monster Turbines and I would say they sound similar to those - no better. i agree with you the originals are always better but in my opinion the fakes dont sound as cheap as they are, they are shit but decent shit :) and ive seen planty of fake solos made by a company called basen. in both hd and normal versions even the solo red! i swear people these days. if ur gonna spend money on these get the real ones ;] just sayin!

I just thought I'd let you know that the legit MD's also have a plastic gold back to them. perhaps they changed the material mid-run?

Also, it seems like the latest production do not have serial numbers.

Still, they sound pretty f*ckin good compared to sennheiser ie8's. Although thats just a humble opinion ^_^

@captnslowable the one in the vid turns 2 in november, i had to take him away from the parents as it was their first hatch and they werent feeding him so i hand reared him.

the other 12 are breeders and wild (parent raised) between the ages of 6 and 14.

i have a few babies now aswell which are 12days and 5weeks old

@myparrots1 nice, you really got your hands full then. i had one before that was 7 years, yould have been 10 now, but he did one day fly out the window and got lost in the woods. spent the entire summer looking for him, but he was gone. i had him for about a year, the other owner got tired of him. so i desided to get a new one. had her since she was a baby.

@captnslowable yeah they do take up a bit of time but not much as i dont hand rear the babies as i feel this should always be left to the parents.

hopefully someone else might have found him and he should be doing good.

@myparrots1 no she is not clipped, doesnt really want that becouse she is a bird and loves to fly around in the house. im just really careful with doors and windows when she is out of here cage.

@captnslowable just wondered if you clipped her after what happened before, mine scared the crap out of me the other day as i left him on his playstand while i went to get a drink, came back and found him sitting on the window ledge with the window wide open and he was just sitting their stairing out, i always leave it open just a bit now so he cant get through but that dont stop him still going sitting on the ledge looking out lol

@myparrots1 no i didnt clip her, my first bird was clipped when i got him and he has been clipped quite i while, but that did damaged his balance, he falled down from things all the time. and when his feathers finally grown out again, he flyed away, becouse of that stupid window. but on the sunny days up here in the north i use to place her cage outside a few hours (looked and secure tho) and she really likes that.
