Is this guy in visalia, ca? Was this at Roger Voght dino days? Ive seen this truck and thaught about messin with hime in my cummins- i wont now. Nice #'s
Dman...I'm more into toyota trucks, just because their smaller size and durability but that dodge truck is ONE STRONG SONOFABITCH. I've always heard growing up that you can't go wrong with a cummins, But I also do like that new ford svt raptor.
i've gotta alota mods, and that thing react's like mine does, what is all done to yours if you don't mind me asking. i haven't had the the chance to dyno mine yet.
this is my favorite diesel dyno video, a lot of trucks claim to have a lot more power but the way they have trouble holding this one down proves that it really does
You two guys that are arguing are both dumbasses in my book. He is completely clueless, because that is a decent ratio to go by, on stock internal trucks. You're showing ignorance by even rambling on about these 'ratios'. When in reality, I'd bet that you do not even know HOW Horsepower or Torque is formulated.
Torque is calculated from the length of a lever that connects to an Axis, and the force applied to it. Horsepower is Torque, and RPM combined.
Your ratio that bases Torque off of Horsepower is completely irrelevant, and useless when it comes to modified trucks.
You have to factor in the crankshaft size, rod style & weight, piston design & weight, camshaft specifications. You also have to factor in the exhaust size, basically everything down to the type of fuel used, and where the most usable power is created in the RPM range..
Yeah man. To make that much power from a diesel motor it's gotta be producing 3000+ lb/fl of torque, that's one tough dyno to deal with that much torque
Who's talking about 2 stroke engines?? This truck doesn't have one. SO before you start calling people names, think about it, oh and by the way it's RETARD not ratard. Back to school to learn a few things, spelling and mechanics would do you good
i can sell you a built 6.0 that will run low thirteens all day for 25. pushin about 550. ten grand more you can pro charge it and throw bigger sticks in it with a little shot of nitrouse and run elevens :)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
YOU shouldn't be using nitrous on a diesel, it has enough compression, it needs water meth instead. diesels and gassers are a different word apart, you can't even begin to compare a diesel to a gassier.
you can twin turbo a cummins 6.7 and get 700HP, all you need is a head stud upgrade,
the most you can get out of a 5.9 realistically is 1,200hp, but that is running water/meth
nitrous has nothing to do with compression, NOTHING AT ALL
it is a oxidizer, it puts more air into the system, with a strong enough fuel system you can run all the turbo boost and nitrous you want until the engine fails,
water/meth cools the intake charge, raising its density which is about the same as adding boost, but its not going to add much more, it only modifys the charge already going into the system.
it can however raise compression, adding water to the system.. nitrous doesnt
yea, idk what i was thinking last night when i wrote that, but i do know water meth doesn't add to the compression ratio, it does cool the carge off, and as a result increases HP and tq as a result, as long as your ADI system is capable of such
800hp is easy enough to make with money. Injectors, compound turbos, dual cp3's, lift pump and a cam. If you have the truck all the ready 15k will get you 800hp.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
if you have to ask what needs to be done to get 800hp then you don't need to be doin that kind of swap. research it man... you better have about oh, 13k to do the swap and get the motor up to at least 550 hp and driveline to handle the 550hp.
im only asking as im not familiar with the common rail upgrades out now, ive pushed my 7.3L as far as i'd like to go, and where im at now im better off doin the swap. right now ive got my 7.3L pushin 524hp and 997tq on the dyno.
those are good numbers! well you can get the adrenaline and add 160hp or so and alotta tq. but then you would need lift pump. injectors. right there is like around 2600 in upgrades. add 900hp clutch and it adds up... but if you can do it and afford it then go for it man, it would be kick ass
First run I think the truck wanted off the dyno.

People underestimate the power of a diesel. Whether it's Dodge, Chevy, or Ford, a diesel is a diesel.

general rule of thumb for a diesel is about 2 foot pounds of torque per 1 horsepower
gearheadguru 2 years ago
And your intelligent remark proves your stupidity. 2:1 is the best ratio to go by. Yes it can be more or less. But that's the average.
Do you even have a diesel?

I'll elaborate..
Horsepower = Torque X Engine RPM / 5,252.
Your ratio that bases Torque off of Horsepower is completely irrelevant, and useless when it comes to modified trucks.
You have to factor in the crankshaft size, rod style & weight, piston design & weight, camshaft specifications. You also have to factor in the exhaust size, basically everything down to the type of fuel used, and where the most usable power is created in the RPM range..

a good rule of thumb for diesels is 2:1
2 lbs/ft torque to 1 hp
so a good estimate would be 1727 lbs/ft torque.
silverrhino1 2 years ago
That's the rule of thumb if you're a dumbass.

more like 1500 or something like that... but it's mental to make that power.

I could get 800HP out of a 6.7 easily, hell 500HP out of a 5.9L is easy. its about what you know and how to manipulate your engines that counts.
Its not about nitrous and bigger turbo kiddies.

cooling intake charge increases density negligibly... the main bonus is in the higher theoretical efficiency. google: carnot efficiency
