I am impressed with these. I got one of each color because they're so inexpensive. "2.2oz" doesn't mean much to me but when I got it in hand it's just light. And it doesn't sacrifice strength, there's no horizontal or vertical wiggle with my blade extended. The coating is nice, I love the black color. The clip isn't completely deep but its very tight, I'm not worried about losing it. I bought these on your recommendation, thanks for the review.
Thanks for the review, I recently bought one of these in black, thumbhole, no blade finish for my girlfriend and liked it so much I just ordered one each in coyote tan and foliage green after seeing your updated review of the new colors.
Just wanted to thank Nutn for this video. Wasn't too big into knives until I started watchin' your videos and I only just got the FG version of this a few days ago as my first folder. Definitely going to be a lot more added in the coming year to my fledgling collection.
Awesome knife for $15. But I cant see using that as an EDC for a long period of time. Great for camping and small projects, but EDC? Nope. I'd rather spend the extra money on something more reliable. For this style knife, the Benchmade Griptillian is unbeatable. It's reliable and no maintenance make it perfect for EDC,
Even more new colors and styles like orange, pink, and grey handles and different opening options like the "thumb notch" wich is a cutout in the blade. Love the vids and keep them coming and I'll always watch them.
@videosbythe5 It really depends on what you want to do with it, but I think their selection of folders is better than their selection of multi-tools. They have some great inexpensive folders, but I personally favor the Bucklite, Buck Vantage, Buck Bantam, and Buck Nobleman - they seem to be the most reasonably priced. I'd stay away from their Yukon & Gerber knives. Yukon is cheap junk; Gerber is decent, but definitely not worth CT's prices.
Does anyone know if the color is actually OD? I can only seem to find the foliage green version, which looks pretty gray to me. I love OD but I'm not crazy about gray and that's a dealbreaker for me.
Got one in OD and Coyote in the mail this weekend. LOVE the colors- OD is going on my flight suit- tan on my gear and will probably be my EDC for a while too. Sharp yes- took the hair off my arms :)
Only complaint -I ordered from AG Russell from a .mil e-mail and no mil discount was applied. Not sure what else I was supposed to do to get a discount. Anybody know?
I just got the 4066 as my first EDC knife. Now, i'm by no means an expert on knives but i know quality when i see it and i'm really impressed with how solid this is. It doesn't feel cheap at all. Granted it's not premium either, but damn, it's amazing how much they give you for $15-20.
Just got the Dozier Folding Hunter in tan today and I have to say it is darker than what is in your video. Its more of a dark earth than a tan but I think it looks just awesome! Its super light, the blade comes out nice and fast, locks up strong, and is razor sharp out of the box. Great knife, and its worth more than what you will pay for it! Only thing is that the clip is super tight and retains too strongly. I bet its just mine though. Other than that great review/update and awesome knife!
dude ur vids rock i really like tht u tell it like it is.that way i can see and hear what the real deal is about a knife be4 i buy. keep up tha good work cya later.
To nutnfancy, hey man I know you probably get hundreds of requests a week but I really wanted to throw 2 ideas in. First it would be awesome if you could do one on the née KA BAR TDI sidelock and how it compares to the regular fixed blade. Also I was hoping for a in depth review of some victorinox SAK's and how much you are willing to push each individual tool. That would be awesome man.
Thanks for the recommendation. I really like my plain stainless Dozier. Total user. I will be rotating between the Dozier and the 3 inch Sogzilla for EDC. My Leek, Salt 1 and Delica will remain in pristine condition, in my closet, thank you.
Wanted to chirp in with my experience. Last hunting season I was carrying one of these, black version. Snagged my coveralls on a barbed wire cattle fence and fell into a tree, smacked my left side hard. Later in camp i pulled the knife out and to my amazement only had half a knife. Handle snapped off in my pocket, complete failure and some jagged pieces I was unaware of that could have cut me. Love Kabar but i think im stickin with steel liners from here. Love the vids!
Wanted to give a heads up. I just received the new Cold Steel Outdoorsman lite. If you've seen it in the new catalog it doesn't do it justice, it is twice the knife I thought I was getting. Appears to be very durable, great ergo's, great full tang construction, good polish and finish. If you'd like to do a first impressions reveiw on the newest cold Steel offering i would be happy to ship it to you, just let me know! Keep up the good work! Owe, Im a long time viewer, just a new account.
i like carrying a knife, but i dont understand nutnfancy's reason for liking to carry point-up in ur pocket. can someone explain the significance of this tactic??
@son12509 Tip carry preference is based mostly on how you're used to deploying your blade. Typically, it's easier/faster for most people to deploy a blade from a tip up carry position in your pocket.
Most of those who prefer tip down do so for safety reasons. The thought is that you can't accidentally stab your hand in the knife comes open in your pocket. IMO, a properly carried (towards rear of pocket) tip up blade is safer than tip down AND easier to deploy.
@son12509 When you pull your knife out of your pocket, your thumb is already positioned over the thumb stud allowing you to immediately flip open your blade.
Great video again. Since you are in the knife reviewing scene for some time, could you make a video about the trends you see come and go, and technical evolution of both design and material? I'm sure there must be some interesting in reviewing the bigger picture, and give some reference/philosophy about what is best about some trends and not good about others.
i am trying to find a edc knife under 40$ that i can get from the following sporting good stores- bass pro shop, sports chalet, sportsman warehouse. can any one recommend one.

@TheUprisingNinja The Gerber Paraframe is pretty good...It runs about twenty-five dollars, at Wal-Mart. I have two Paraframe IIs, coated, that are quite excellent knives; they even held up decently to saltwater (they probably would have done perfectly if I'd cleaned them properly...or...something). 3.5" blade, skeleton style handle, serrated blade (you can probably get one in non-serrated if desired), good all-around knife.
Just got one. It has some blade play (back and forth, not side to side). Also, I can't get the damn clip off. I unscrewed it, but I can't get the other end to come out. Anyone else have those problems?
Yea I remember this review and I ended up loving these knives so much I bought every style. These new colors are awesome and I love um. Not really into the orange one they put out but other then that these little bad boys are worth every penny and more. Your right about the steel being a bit soft but im ok with that because i sharpen my knives regularly. I do however wish you would have pointed out that the coating on these knives will peel off vary easily cuz i swear i think its paint. TY NUTN
My Esee Izula is 3.3 Oz. total, sheath and all, and it's a 5/32 inch thick piece of 1095 high carbon steel so I can baton and split wood with it. Plus with a 2 3/4 inch hair-splitting-sharp blade, it's my primary defensive blade. You really need to look into neck knives.
Just bought this knife at the 2011 NRA Expo in Pittsburgh. Got it for $10! They were selling them 5 for $40 at their booth. I got the 4065 model with the orange handle and black blade. Glad to hear that Nutn approves..

I am guessing the small area without textureing that lines up with the clip is designed to not damamge your pocket. Either that, or a cosmetic thing that just so happens to work for that, lol.
Please do a table top on the m1a socom. I want to know how accurate the one you used was. I have a socom 16 and it shoots 4" groups at 100 yards with Winchester 147gr
thanks Nutnfancy. i love watching the EDC knife reviews, can't wait for the next one. Could you do a review for a knife that is UK legal (eg. the Spyderco UK penknife or something similar). the UK laws are so annoying and it would be great if you could review a knife for us UK viewers. thanks, keep up the good work!!
Ah, I remember my first Nutnfancy vid (Benchmade 710). I have been a subscriber since then (although had to change my channel d/t someone hacked my channel/email). Hey Nutn, I am awaiting another "lessons" vid, but love the "old school" knife reviews.
I have a dick shaped OTF knife and the blade shoots out when you squeeze the left hut and comes back in when you pull the right nut, i got it at sports authority on sale
great!i ll buy one in orange collor(easy spoted in case you drop it in a forest) and i think i ll buy the olive one so cool! Thanks for the review nutn!
I have a Gerber LST that looks to be about the same size. Super easy to carry, light weight, slender, and a nice size stainless blade. These look like something I'd really like. Thanks.
The first nutn video I watched was the original Ka-Bar Dozier video, bought the knife because of it. I've been an avid viewer ever since. keep it up bro.
I only started following the project mid 2009, but man what a ride it's been. I hope to meet you in person some day, I live minutes from the Ogden Impact Guns but sadly couldn't make it there on your last announced visit.
@MikeReiner Sorry I missed ya' man...maybe next time. I sure appreciate you hanging around for so long. I know it sounds played but there's a lot more to come and I have yet got out there what I want to. Made some progress tonight though: five more reviews filmed. Thanks again.
I dig the thumb hole version (4065) and the large versions (4070 w/ stud & 4071 w/ thumb hole). The large's are about $5 more and you get a 3.625 in. blade vs the regular 3.0 in.
@Overloaded3 - I should have bought the 4070. I just bought the lightweight dozier - the blade is slow to open and needs the thumb to push it open, also wish the thumb stud was on both sides of the blade.
I can't ague with you here, these are terrific value EDC knives. I already have three of these great little knives. They are also available in orange handle/black blade, and pink handle/satin finish blade.
@xxTandersonxx Delica 4 in FFG in VG-10 is a Hall of Fame blade and I like it more. Maybe love it is a better way of putting it. However you could buy three of these for the price of one of those.
@nutnfancy AGRussle upped the price to $2195 I guess they got wind of the video, It was the price you said last night. I guess you snooze you lose. Darn it!
@soadfansoad I corrected myself in the next post. I missed a decimal point or 2. lol. though if too many TMP'rs go buy them we might drive the price up to $2195
Nice! I'm gonna get me one of those. That must be a world record shortest Nutnfancy video. But I had to one uo it so I uploaded a 4min and 41 second vid. LOL
If only the royal wedding was as short as this video the world would br complete.
Hey Nutn, I literally just found out that Ruger will be realeasing an SR1911. Will you be purchasing and or doing a review on it? It seems like it's gonna be a beast!
Been here since the begining and so has this knife I LOVE THIS KNIFE i carry one every day for work. Break it? Who cares 15$ replacement. A+ Kabar& Nutn
I was recently informed of a mistake on my taxes. I owe more money to them. Because of you, Nutnfancy, I have to decide between paying up the rest of my taxes, or buying more knives, and I already know that my decision will lead to me being gang raped by the IRS. Thanks.
I have the G10 MULE. Nutn probably dislikes the heavy weight but I use it as a backup for my 7" Utility (Ka-bar.) In that POU it is AWE-SOME! I could build a HOME with it if I had to. To have that capability even after I break/lose my full size! WHOA!!!

Odd question buddy but have you ever flown one of the three KC-135 that the Royal Air Force are purchasing for conversion into RC-135W they are:
64-14833 (New UK serial ZZ664)
64-14838 (New UK serial ZZ665)
64-14830 (New UK serial ZZ666 - wonder what nickname the RAF crews will give her...)
Once they are completed it would be interesting seeing an aircraft that you have flown...then again I know the US has a huge number of KC-135!

I have a Gerber LST that looks to be about the same size. Super easy to carry, light weight, slender, and a nice size stainless blade. These look like something I'd really like. Thanks.
geepcj2a 10 months ago
The first nutn video I watched was the original Ka-Bar Dozier video, bought the knife because of it. I've been an avid viewer ever since. keep it up bro.

I only started following the project mid 2009, but man what a ride it's been. I hope to meet you in person some day, I live minutes from the Ogden Impact Guns but sadly couldn't make it there on your last announced visit.
MikeReiner 10 months ago
@MikeReiner Sorry I missed ya' man...maybe next time. I sure appreciate you hanging around for so long. I know it sounds played but there's a lot more to come and I have yet got out there what I want to. Made some progress tonight though: five more reviews filmed. Thanks again.

I need one.

Sweet colors. I need to give this knife another look.

I dig the thumb hole version (4065) and the large versions (4070 w/ stud & 4071 w/ thumb hole). The large's are about $5 more and you get a 3.625 in. blade vs the regular 3.0 in.
Overloaded3 10 months ago
@Overloaded3 Yes they are cool and lots of blade for the money.
nutnfancy 10 months ago
@Overloaded3 - I should have bought the 4070. I just bought the lightweight dozier - the blade is slow to open and needs the thumb to push it open, also wish the thumb stud was on both sides of the blade.

I can't ague with you here, these are terrific value EDC knives. I already have three of these great little knives. They are also available in orange handle/black blade, and pink handle/satin finish blade.

@nutnfancy Actually I've been thinking that myself, I can see the collection growing to four any time now :)

Hey nutnfancy what would you prefer this or the spyderco delica?
xxTandersonxx 10 months ago
@xxTandersonxx Delica 4 in FFG in VG-10 is a Hall of Fame blade and I like it more. Maybe love it is a better way of putting it. However you could buy three of these for the price of one of those.
nutnfancy 10 months ago
@nutnfancy i agree i luv my spyderco's, cant beat it.

soadfansoad 10 months ago
@soadfansoad I corrected myself in the next post. I missed a decimal point or 2. lol. though if too many TMP'rs go buy them we might drive the price up to $2195

Nice! I'm gonna get me one of those. That must be a world record shortest Nutnfancy video. But I had to one uo it so I uploaded a 4min and 41 second vid. LOL
If only the royal wedding was as short as this video the world would br complete.

verisharp 10 months ago
I was recently informed of a mistake on my taxes. I owe more money to them. Because of you, Nutnfancy, I have to decide between paying up the rest of my taxes, or buying more knives, and I already know that my decision will lead to me being gang raped by the IRS. Thanks.
foodlovingpig 10 months ago
I have the G10 MULE. Nutn probably dislikes the heavy weight but I use it as a backup for my 7" Utility (Ka-bar.) In that POU it is AWE-SOME! I could build a HOME with it if I had to. To have that capability even after I break/lose my full size! WHOA!!!
vassal11 10 months ago
Thanks for the recommendation. At that price, I think I gotta have one.
