An F3 Savannah would cost less and it goes down with each generation. But research the breed first as they are very demanding.

To those super rich pet owners, instead of buying one really exotic cat that's as expensive as a car, you use the same amount of money to help a greater amount of cats by donating to animal shelters. What happens if that cat dies? All that money just for a pretty cat. All my cats are plain and black, but I got them absolutely free and they're the best kitties ever.
@KatASala If they are really rich, they may well buy an expensive cat (that they could've easily gotten the same cat for 5-7 times less) and still have a lot of money left to donate to the shelters. By the way, if you read on the personality of Savannah cats - and this is a Savannah cat - you'll see that many people describe them as dog-like: they love attention, they can walk on a leash, they play fetch, they chew on things (not a desirable treat). @micklfc2008 It depends on a generation, the further from Serval the cheaper. I just listed a range from some breeders on google, I have no intention of getting a Savannah cat - they are way too active for me, plus I have a 12-year old very lazy moggy from a shelter.

For all we know these people may not even be the real buyers but friends of the scam artist who sold them. BTW - Savannah Cats have been around for 15-20 years or so, registered with TICA for 10 years, you've not seen any of them in the shelters have you? You can check with Savannah Cat Rescue if they have any cats.

generally the reason these designer cats are so expensive is because a lot of money goes to genetic research and animal conservation. For example, the toyger cat is incredibly expensive but most the money (90% i think) goes to tiger conservation, which is half the reason the breed was created. The other reason was of course to have a cat as beautiful as a wildcat in your home ;)

BTW - Savannah Cats have been around for 15-20 years or so, registered with TICA for 10 years, you've not seen any of them in the shelters have you? You can check with Savannah Cat Rescue if they have any cats.

This breed is a scam, it's a Savannah cat. 3. There are different generations of hybrid breeds like Savannahs and Bengals - F1, F2, etc, the price goes down with each generation. @magicalice10 1. Ashera is a scam. This is a Savannah cat, a breed registered with TICA, the largest international registry of pedigreed cats since 2000, I saw them at a cat show. 2. Hybrid cat breeds have existed for a while - look up Bengal cats, they are really domestic. 3. As far as wild cats go, I read that Servals are fairly tame. At any rate this cat is likely an F2 Savannah, so it's probably 75% domestic.

Savannah cats existed for probably 20 years, have you seen any articles about "Savannah cat attack"? Oh, and when the reporter says "Asian Leopard" he really means "Asian Leopard Cat" (ALC), a small wild feline same size as domestic, the one at start of Bengal cats. So saying a cat has ALC blood is like saying there were some Bengal cats in the mix.

generally the reason these designer cats are so expensive is because a lot of money goes to genetic research and animal conservation. For example, the toyger cat is incredibly expensive but most the money (90% i think) goes to tiger conservation, which is half the reason the breed was created. The other reason was of course to have a cat as beautiful as a wildcat in your home ;)

Based on what I read F1 Savannahs are expensive, though most cheaper than this, because they are very difficult to breed: Serval can kill the female domestic, so they need to supervise, premature kittens that often need to be bottle fed around the clock, small litters - 1-2 kittens, high kitten mortality. F1-F4 males are sterile. The price drops with each generation.

That is why the breed is so popular, its a bigger cat.. that looks wild, yet it is very affectionate and not a problem around kids or other animals. 1) special breed cats can come with a baggage of health issues due to inbreeding (this happens a lot as it ensures a true breed) i have bengal mixes and know this for a fact.
2) the fecking price tag!

And given as F1-F4 males are sterile, they are outcrossed to domestics for 4 generations, so there is little inbreeding there. 2. The price tag is high because this is a scam, proven by DNA tests: a savannah cat sold for several times the price. 3-4: I doubt anybody would let them roam. No, I'd not get one because they are very active, high jumpers, super-smart and chew on things.

@Andyarr How can people believe that anybody could breed a real leopard to a cat or a Serval -- think about size difference, do you really expect a cat carry a leopard cub to term? How about gestation period differences? Look up "Asian Leopard CAT". Also, Ashera is a SCAM, an overpriced Savannah cat, a breed registered at TICA since 2000 with a different name and a higher price tag. (BTW - Savannahs are cute, look here: /watch?v=o0xqJcD_5XU

I just went to cat/dog show and was informed these "ashera" cats are a scam. They don't exist and the person selling them got in a lot of trouble for lying. They are just savannah cats w a rip off price.
