The day before the race Australian riders voted on who was going to be the team leader. Most of the team members voted for Simon Gerrans. Cadel Evans gained only one vote - his own one. Then he said he was gonna ride for himself if there would be good situation for him.

About time after all the crap he's endured the last few years... teams built around McEwen, media and cyclists provoking him (Cancellara/Schleck in the TdF) and the worst wheel change in cycling history. He's not afraid to show his emotions and that alone is refreshing in a sport where hiding emotions is key.

Also love the fact that he didn't have a phoney baloney victory salute like Cavendish and his shameless shilling (tool).

Good guy and I hope he gets the support he deserves for 2010.
